“I was just going to take his picture and he
looked up and pointed and was sort of frantic.
“Then I saw them. They came out
from behind the trees and seemed to be sort of
spinning.”
Fifteen-year-old Robert McNicol
of 4011 Lynn Valley Road was explaining how he
happened to take four pictures of two
Unidentified Flying Objects in his back yard at
11:40 a.m. Tuesday, July 11.
He was taking a picture of
14-year-old Doug Miller of 3957 Phyllis Road
with his 1916 model Kodak box camera when they
saw them.
During the minute and a half the
objects were visible to the boys, Robert took a
total of six pictures of them, four of which
turned out.
“They seemed quite far away,”
Doug explained, “and they were sort of
metallic-colored. We've never seen anything like
it before.”
“They moved out from behind the
trees and stopped as if they were watching us
then they seemed to spin away very fast; they
just disappeared.”
The boys emphasized there is no
chance what they saw were two logging balloons
being used on Seymour Mountain. The balloons are
situated to the east of the McNicol home while
the picture was taken facing the west. “Besides,
we've seen the balloons and they're much bigger
than what we saw,” they said.
They told their parents and a few
friends about the happening.
“But they didn't believe us. Now
we've got the pictures to prove it.”
Robert, who has a collection of
flying saucer magazines and books, said his
father plans to write to the United States
Pentagon explaining the sighting.
They said they didn't believe in
flying saucers before and don't know what to
think.
“I've never seen anything like
that before, ” Robert said, pointing at one of
the pictures.
We asked them if they now think
what they saw were "flying saucers."
“Yeah, I guess so,” Robert
replied, “I guess they're some sort of flying
saucer.”
