UFO SIGHTING REPORTS - PRE 1995

26-Aug-1897, Okanagan Landing, BC:

Sorry, (this is) not a personal sighting but I thought you should know that under your "Early Sightings", you tell of flying machines in 1897. There is a similar article in the Vernon News in, (I think), August 26, 1897, telling of how two gentlemen of "good repute" spotted a flying object from the north. It was very bright and when it approached it looked like some sort of machine with a figure inside. Every once in a while the machine would shoot sparks into the air. It circled for a couple hours and disappeared.

Summer 1939, Vancouver, BC:

Yes sadly she [my Mom] passed away in Feb 1995. It took place in the summer of 1939, morning time. To my best recollection she was 15 at the time and was playing in the front yard on west 5 Avenue in Kitsilano. The yard faced south so she was looking south and in her words:

"It came out from behind the cloud and came at a fast speed toward me. It stopped above the house across the street, it looked like a tube, a metallic tube. No sound, no wings, nothing. It was a bit bigger than the house. I ran inside to get my dad and he said he did not know what it was. (He worked at Boeing Vancouver so he knew his aircraft.) Then it left straight up and was gone in a flash. This all happened in about a 3 minute time period. My dad told me not to tell anyone, so I didn’t."

Mom told me this about five years before she died and said that was the first time she had talked about it. She never mentioned it again. Even when she told me the story there was a tone in her voice that said it still scared her even though she wouldn’t admit it.

Mark

I know it is not much, but that is how she remembered it.

1948, Queen Charlotte Islands, BC:

Many years ago, in 1948, I was a commercial fisherman. One evening just as it got dark. The sky was clear and the stars were getting brighter and brighter. I suddenly saw a brilliant red light in the sky at about 50° above sea level and about to the (SSW) South South West  of my boat, the M.V. Estrellita. I was about half way between the southern tip of Queen Charlotte Islands, (now Haida Gwaii) latitude 51°56'N and longitude 131°01'W and the mainland, Spitfire Island, Latitude 51.849633253°, Longitude -128.220002234°.

When I was trolling offshore for salmon, and at the evenings would pull all the gear aboard, turn on my mast-top light, shut off the engine, sleep and just drift all night. She would drift a few knots overnight one way or another and in the morning I would start up again at the beginning of daylight return to my fishing ground, more or less, using my echosounder. I was alone. I always fished alone on my boat.

I laid down on the deck and watched the red light, which seemed to move around in various directions E, S, E, N, etcetera. I did not seem to be moving about in any  particular direction  and I was positive that it was not a high flying airplane, due to the red light's erratic movements. After  about an hour and a half the red light seemed to be getting duller and duller until the light just faded out.

That is it. I have never told this to anyone before, because I thought people would just think I was a nut or something. I don't think I am, or ever was a nut! I have never seen a strange anything in the sky again.

August-1950, Lakelse Lake BC (near Terrace): (7:29 pm)

The witness was 17 years old and out in a boat on Lakelse Lake when she suddenly heard a whirring sound. Looking up she was astonished to see a two-tone metallic, disc-shaped craft that was tilted towards her at a 45-degree angle. The object was stationary, had a dome on top and the centre part was revolving and apparently responsible for the sound she could hear. It was her feeling that she was being observed during the following two minutes that it remained in position. Then it very suddenly was gone "so fast". She never mentioned this event to her parents as they were very religious and would simply state that it was the work of the devil.

(Note: The witness stated that the local newspaper at that time (Terrace Herald?) was carrying other reports.)

May 1951, Prince George, BC: (between 2:00pm – 3:00pm)

The year is 1951, and our witness was on 15th Ave on a sunny May at around 2 to 3pm. Looking up at the sky, he notices a stationary oval object, hovering just south of 15thAve.

It was about 3000 feet in elevation, and suddenly started to move and take a sudden 90 degree turn heading south. As it turned it became clear that what he was seeing was a gray metallic saucer or disk.

Now, about 1 mile away, the craft was moving at around 3,000mph – the witness was able to determine speed from time take to pass over certain known point along the Prince George skyline – as is typical with this type of sighting, it was making no sound.

Two other witnesses were present, a gentleman by the name of Ed Dewalt, and his friend Anita. Unfortunately, these two witnesses have since passed on, and cannot provide any further detail.

Given the age of this sighting, and the details provided (on several occasion to myself to ascertain accuracy) it is certainly one of the better and historically important sightings from that golden era.

Early to mid-1950s Tuc-El-Nuit Lake Oliver, BC: (early afternoon) HBCC UFO

HBCC UFO Research Note: Now this is a really interesting sighting report since there appears to have been more people who witnessed this object as the person reporting mentions the radio station carried a news story on this craft being observed by others. I would like to request from others who were in that area at the time that if they saw this craft, would they please be kind enough to contact me here at HBCC UFO Research with the details of what you saw. Thank you, Brian.

I recall I was 8 or 10 years old and playing by myself in our back yard on the west side of Tuc-el-Nuit Lake.

I was not looking at the lake but was facing north. A movement over my right shoulder caught my attention and I turned towards the lake.

Flying very low above the lake and coming from the south was a very strange looking airplane. It had no wings, no propeller, was the same shape top and bottom and made no sound. The size was a bit bigger than any plane I'd seen before and the only planes I had seen were small private planes. I'd never been to a big airport. The colour was a silver grey. The lake was only half a mile wide at that point so "the plane" was quite close and only about three times as high as our rooftop. If it had been a float plane I would have expected it to be landing at the far end of the lake.

It was moving only a little faster than I would have expected a plane to fly. I watched it continue up the lake then went back to my playing.

Later when I went in the house I told my mother about the strange plane I'd seen.

A short time later she heard on the 5:00 pm news that a "flying saucer" had been seen by a great many people flying north up the Okanagan Valley. It fit the description of what I'd seen so she told me about it. The radio station was CKOK Penticton.

I wasn't overly impressed as I'd never even heard of flying saucers. My parents were aware of them but it was never a topic that they had any reason to discuss. To me it was just a funny looking airplane. In fact, if it had not been on the news I doubt that I would have remembered it as the years went by. Of course to see it now would be very exciting and I would pay a lot more attention!

Over the years I've looked at archives of sightings in B.C. but have never seen mention of that event. That surprises me a bit since several people apparently reported it to the radio station at the time.

Unfortunately I can't give the exact year. I just know it was after 1950 and before 1960. It was around the time that my parents were part of a team of volunteers that had to report any planes they heard or saw during their shift. My parents shift was midnight to 2 a.m. Since they were both teachers, they used the time to mark papers! Years later when I asked why they were doing that, they couldn't remember what it was about but that it was being done in more areas than Oliver.

Around that same time period there was another sighting in the sky that I noted but did not think about more than just briefly. I was in the same area of Oliver playing with some friends. This was early afternoon in the summer. They were standing above me on a mound of dirt and as I was looking at them I noticed three bright lights in the sky to the north. They looked like very bright stars and formed a small triangle. We all watched them for a while but they didn't move so we went on playing. Over the next half hour whenever we looked up they were there. Since I remembered my father saying that as a boy in Alert Bay (1920's) he and a friend once watched several unmoving "stars" for a whole afternoon I just assumed that we also were looking at stars. Yes, we knew that it was unusual to see stars in the daylight. The reason I remembered the event was that I was pleased that I'd seen something special that my dad had seen when he was about my age. Since then I've looked for stars in the daytime sky when the air is very clear but have never seen any.

I realize this report is from a long time ago but I am hoping you have records of this from other people. If nothing else I appreciate the opportunity to at last tell someone about the event. Thank you.

Between 1954 and 1958, Tuc-El-Nuit Lake Oliver, BC: (Daylight sighting) HBCC UFO

This is a bit of an unusual addition to a report you posted earlier [see above].

My older sister submitted the report "Tuc-El-Nuit Lake Oliver, British Columbia 1950s Flying Saucer". She emailed me to take a look at this site, and I read her submission. Now, it gets a bit strange.

This was the very first time I heard about her seeing this event. That in itself is not particularly strange, but I saw something similar, and she did not know of my sighting nor I hers! Reading her report was a bit of a shock, to say the least.

What follows is a description of what I saw sometime between 1954 and 58. I was somewhere between 4 and 8 years old.

It was a bright day with a solid high overcast, and, I believe, in the afternoon. No wind and a warm day.

I was outside by the lake shore, facing south. Something attracted my attention and I looked up high to my left in time to see three objects streak towards the south. They were moving much faster than any ducks flew, and were absolutely silent. There was no flapping of wings or any body movement whatsoever. They did not appear to be descending, but got smaller as they flew out of sight behind a row of poplar trees about 100 m away.

There were three objects, flying in a "V" formation. They looked to me at the time like ducks with no tails and very short stubby wings. They were dark in colour and I saw no markings or distinguishable features. My age and lack of any other reference led me to assume they were just weird birds. What seemed unusual to me at the time other than the weird shape was the speed and silence of their flight.

They appeared to me as ducks would look if they were flying 10 or 15 m above my head. I should have seen details and heard the murmuring that ducks make as they fly.

I told my Mom and Dad about the "ducks". They questioned me but couldn't really come to any satisfactory conclusions and we just shrugged and moved on.

My sister and I talked about these events for the first time today. Neither of us was aware of the other's sighting. We are not really able to figure out who saw what first, but we are both certain that we did not know of each other's story. We are equally certain that we saw what we saw, and are not "remembering" a story we heard from the other.

FYI. Tuc-el-nuit Lake is, according to Indian legend, the birthplace of Ogopogo. He apparently swam up the Okanagan River to Okanagan Lake. The "Okanagan Arch" is also visible from this area.

Summer-1955, Vancouver BC:

"I didn't see this one but during that summer about six of my friends were sitting out in their back yard. All of a sudden they noticed a large cigar-shaped craft coming slowly up from the south. One of them ran into the house and brought out binoculars as well as his mother. They stated that the craft had numerous yellow portholes along both sides. Their mother apparently phoned the Airport and was told that there were no planes in the air at that time, they said that while she was on the phone she could hear fighter planes being scrambled in the back ground. While she was inside, the craft slowly turned round and headed back south, they watched until it was out of sight. They ranged in age from about 12 to 14."

Mid-Summer-1955, 100 Mile House, BC:

When I asked my father, he told me he saw a silver cigarette-shaped object hovering over 100 Mile House. He and about twenty other people pulled over on Highway 97 at the top of the hill on the north side of 100 Mile House. He told me this happened some time in mid-summer of 1955. When I asked him how high up in the air the object appeared to be, he told me he figured it was 5000 feet or so in the air. He said it hovered for 15 minutes then took off to the east so fast it was hard to watch it moving.

Summer-1956, Vancouver BC:

"This summer I became interested in listening to Short Wave Radio. I was out in my back yard working on an Antenna. Because I was looking up I noticed a small circular craft quickly approaching from the west; it flew almost directly overhead and disappeared to the east. It appeared to be about the same size and colour as a dime would be, held at arm's length. When I first saw it, it was about 45 degrees to the west of me. It took about 10 sec. to pass out of sight, much faster than any aircraft that I've ever seen. When it disappeared in the east it did not appear to follow the curvature of the earth but just seemed to fly straight off into space. The weather was sunny and clear, it made no sound and left no vapor trail, it appeared to be very high, possibly over 30,000 ft."

Sept/Oct-1957, Cedar Creek BC: (near Cranbrook)

Bob (17) his brother David (15) and father went hunting at Cedar Creek, at Albert River. They were camping at a disused logging camp. They spotted a "sausage-shaped" silver craft, pulsating at both ends, about half a mile away. It was making no noise. This was in the morning and the visibility was excellent. The object moved, stopped, moved, etc. It displayed no visible acceleration. It seemed to "jump" from A to B! They estimated that the craft was 30-40 feet long and 10 feet high. They watched it for 20-30 minutes. Bob hid behind a tree and was clearly upset. David began to load his rifle at which point his father reproached him and asked what he imagined he might achieve by shooting at it? The craft finally moved out of sight behind a nearby mountain.

NOTE: The above description was by Bob. His brother David recalls that the object was a huge silver BALL, about 50 feet in diameter and 1 ½ - 2 miles away! He also remembers watching it for an hour.

30-Oct-1959, Smithers: (8:30 pm)

I also have seen UFO's in Bulkley Valley.

In 1959, I watched a UFO for about 4 minutes as it flew over Smithers to the Hudson Bay Glacier. It hovered there for about 10 seconds, then flew back east to where I first saw it! I estimated its speed at around 1500 miles per hour as it went out of sight. This instance took place at 8:30 PM in late October, in the dark of the evening. The UFO was a very bright white and changed to red as it sped away .

1960’s or early 70’s, Lower Mainland, BC: (Received: June, 2004) HBCC UFO
Chased By A UFO On The Way To Work: While I'm remembering things, back in the 60's and early 70's I worked in the main Vancouver Post Office. One of the fellows I worked with was a Mennonite fellow the same age as me. He used to drive back and forth from Clearbrook as he was living with his parents. Being from a rather closed community he was quite naive about a lot of things.

During the fall of 1965 he came into work one night and was quite visible shaken up by something which occurred on his way home the previous night. He told us he had just come off the Pt. Mann bridge and was cruising along about 70 Mph. when he noticed a bright white light in his rear view mirror. Thinking it was just another car coming up the hill from the bridge, he didn't pay to much attention. When he first saw it he figured it was probably several miles behind him but within seconds it was right over his car. He said it scared the crap out of him and he tried to put his foot through the floor and within seconds was doing over 120 mph.

He kept running through patches of thick dense fog and was terrified he was going to run into another vehicle but the object overhead scared him even more. After a few minutes it receded back to being just a light in the mirror but he said he kept his foot to the floor. Just before reaching his turn off it suddenly closed in on him again and hovered overhead. When he started to slow down for the turn off it backed off again as if watching to see what he was going to do. He said he was so scared he couldn't sleep all night.

With his religious upbringing he thought it was the Devil chasing him. We told him it was more likely a UFO chasing him and then had to explain what a UFO was, apparently he had never heard of such a thing. The next night he came into work still all upset, he'd been chased all the way back to Clearbrook for a second time. That was enough for him, he arranged a place to stay during the week in Vancouver and only went home when he could drive during the day time with other cars around. As far as I know he has moved back to Clearbrook and is working there so he doesn't have to commute.

22-Aug-1962, New Westminster: (1:30 pm)

"I was looking out my window and happened to see a silvery object in the sky heading in an easterly direction. The outline was clearly visible against a light blue sky and was a circular disc, silvery coloured with a dome on the top. Definitely not an airplane. I was the only witness. I ran over to the next door neighbours and banged on their door but nobody was home. The object disappeared from view shortly thereafter, making it pointless for me to run to anyone else's home. I would like to know if there are any other similar sightings for this date, time, place. It's been at the back of my mind for 40 years."

Jun-1964, Vancouver, BC: (3:00 am)

In around June 1964 at about 3 am my brother and I were watching this object fly over our house in East Vancouver 41st and Fraser St. We watched this for about 2 minutes and then it vanished off to the south. The object was long like the mother ship.

Two weeks later my buddy Mike was driving south on Cambie St. at 12th Ave. He looked up above City Hall and saw 5 or 10 objects stationary above City Hall. Mike he told me that they were like “a disk all in formation”. Just about the same time, street lights, cars, truck engines shut down almost as soon as this happened. Then lights go back on, engines restarted, and the objects are gone.

Fall 1964, Okanagan Falls: (7:30 pm)

In 1964 a friend of mine called me up and said would you like to go down to Okanagan Falls and play some pool (we lived in Penticton BC which is only about 5 miles away from Okanagan Falls). I said sure and he picked me up on his motorcycle. We got to Watermans Hill, which is a large hill just as you get to the little town of OK Falls . Half way down the hill a very bright flash of light appeared across Skaha Lake, which you can see as you go down this hill to Okanagan Falls. We got off the bike and stood in the dark along side the road for a minute. There was very little traffic on a Sunday night on that highway in those days. Anyway, we looked up just to the north of us and saw this very large cigar-shaped object, no noise was coming from it but was heading west toward a mountain . It was black with a glowing red light coming from the tail end of it. The direction it was heading was west, which should take it over to White Lake Observatory. When I got home I had to phone up a friend who worked there, Roy H. He said they never saw anything. I will never forget that night. it still gives me goose bumps.

1966, Richmond BC : (6:00 pm)

"My girlfriend Leigh and I had been out for a ride on my motorcycle and on the way home were north bound on Highway 99. We had just come out of the tunnel when I happened to notice a large yellowish rectangle hanging in the air above UBC, which would put it just north of the airport. At first I thought it must be some sort of reflection on my helmet visor but after shaking my head back and forth and lifting the visor, it was still there. I pointed it out to my girlfriend and she confirmed that she also could see it. We continued to keep glancing at it all the way across Richmond and I had hopes of getting home and taking a better look through binoculars but just as we approached the south end of the Oak St. bridge we could see what appeared to be the shadows of people moving about inside and the opening suddenly began to close, it was just like a door had swung shut and then it was gone. We both had the impression that we were looking through a doorway into some sort of large room but whatever we were looking at was completely invisible from the outside. What ever the door belonged to must have been huge, as we were probably 10 miles away when I first saw it. I would estimate the opening to be somewhere between 50 to 100 ft. in height, by comparing it to the size of the trees below it. I doubt that it was more than 500 ft. in altitude. The weather was clear and sunny and it was about 18:00 hrs."

June 1966, Laidlaw: (11:45 pm)  HBCC UFO

The witness clearly recalls a sighting he had when he was in his early teens. He was with roughly twenty family members having a reunion at a home in Laidlaw, British Columbia. They had a campfire and folks were roasting wieners. One of the younger children there yelled out loudly for everyone to look over towards one of the local mountains.

Everyone looked to where the child was pointing and saw a large object sitting stationary over top of the mountain. It sat there for a brief time and then started to move along the mountain rim, stopped and returned to where it had come from. Then it moved towards the family (still a distance away) then back again to it's original position. The witness reported the color was a salmon/peach. He said the shape of the object was definitely circular. They all watched it for approximately 15 minutes and finally it moved off behind the mountain.

Everyone was surprised to say the least and one of the adults ran inside to call the airport to report and to enquire if anyone else was reporting this massive object. The first thing the tower operator explained was that they did not use balloons anymore because they had radar. The man in the tower was laughing! But he did finally say there was no aircraft in the area where the object had been seen. Also nothing was showing up on his radar.

The witness said there were others who had also observed this strange object as reports were filed with the RCMP and the local newspaper at that time.

November 1966, Burnaby: (7:00 pm)

I was driving east on Hastings Street in North Burnaby and looked left toward the North Shore mountain range running parallel to my driving east up Hastings and saw a bright light. I was sure it was not a plane or helicopter because it was skimming in a straight line with no variation just above the highest peaks. It had very bright lights, unlike an airplane. Suddenly it hung in one spot and the lights changed to a red colour as if it was turning which it did as I turned down Willingdon Avenue. My companion said "look, look" it is coming right over our heads and flying toward New Westminster. I turned off Willingdon and stopped at my mother's to deliver a package. As I walked into her house she was just sitting down and she said "I didn’t see you stopping. I was looking at a mysterious light flying over the house." I said, “You saw what I saw, a ufo.” She had never seen such a thing before. I left immediately to drive to Surrey and before reaching Patullo Bridge my friend and I saw it, high above the bridge heading down toward White Rock and it seemed to drop out of sight by the US/Cdn Border, to our estimation. The object had been viewed several times that week by others.

November 1966, Burnaby, BC:

Myself and my husband were having dinner at a couple's house.  We walked towards their living room window while they were in the kitchen cooking dinner.  We saw a bright light shining down.  We looked up and saw a  large circular shaped ("flying saucer" type) object in the sky with blinking red and white lights as though the object were rotating.  There was a beam of light coming from the bottom on the object as well.  The light was so bright, it was lighting up all the trees and everything around.  It was flying very low.  We were alarmed and back away quickly from the window. The object disappeared very quickly a few seconds later. We decided to not mention this to the couple in the kitchen as we didn't think they would believe us.

12-March-1967, Port McNeill, BC: (7 p.m)  (APRO Bulletin March-April 1967)

Siemens, a school teacher, and his wife noticed what appeared to be a large bright star to the left of the crescent moon. Both are amateur astronomers. By 7:07 they realized the light was moving towards the horizon and getting smaller. It appeared to have an oval shape and appeared brighter at times than others. It first appeared about 20 degrees above the horizon to the left of the crescent moon, about midway from the horizon to Venus. As nearly as the investigators could discern, the object was directly above the Benson Lake Power Generating Station when first seen.

UFO*BC Comment:
According to Stellarium, the Moon and Venus were setting just about due West at that time/date, the moon a thin crescent about 7deg up and Venus above that, at ~16deg.  The sun was ~10deg below the horizon - object maybe reflecting sunlight?

Summer 1967, New Westminster, BC: (about 7 pm)

The summer I was 13 I was walking up to a girlfriend's home from my home on Edinburgh Street. Just as I turned to walk up the hill on 13th I saw a strange round object in the sky coming towards me over the houses from the west. It was huge, dark grey metallic, not shiny, had red and green lights on the lower edge that appeared to be either moving in a circular fashion or vibrating. I stood and looked up and watched it hover almost over head for at least 6 to 8 seconds. I looked around to see if anyone else was on the street seeing what I was seeing but no one was there. All of a sudden it headed off in the direction it had come from at an incredible speed! In a second or two it was no longer visible. I turned and ran home as fast I could and told my father and he came outside and we both scanned the sky but saw nothing. It's been 45 years and I still wonder what I saw. Tonight I happened to have the TV on and a show about UFO's came on and I got the idea to type into the internet "summer 1967 UFO sightings New Westminster" and realised that other people had seen things in the area that summer. I'm not a nutbar..trust me!..but there was something VERY unusual flying around my neighborhood that night! I have never since sighted anything strange in the sky.

I thought I would document my memory for any of you seriously studying the phenomena.

Thank you, Colleen, Ottawa, Ont.

August-1967, Allouette Lake BC :

"My girlfriend Leigh and our friends Tom and Lil, along with their daughter Kim, spent every weekend in August camping near Gold Creek on the west side of Allouette Lake. The last Sat. night in Aug. we were sitting around the campfire and looking out over the lake when all of a sudden Tom drew our attention to a large Orange object slowly passing across the south end of the valley. It was about the same size and colour as the full moon as it rises in the month of October. I attempted to find my binoculars for a better look but just as I got my hand on them the object went behind the mountains. I would estimate it was flying at about 1500 ft. in altitude by comparing it with the height of the surrounding mountains. The time was about 23:00 and the craft was traveling from west to east along the north side of the Fraser Valley. I read several months later in a Magazine called Canadian UFO report that it had been reported by a number of people in the Fraser Valley as far east as Hope, last seen still heading east into the mountains. We observed the full moon rise at about 01:00 directly across the lake from us. It was much whiter in colour and appeared smaller."

1968 - between Vancouver and Dawson Creek: (Easter Weekend)

"I decided to drive the about 800 miles north to see a friend of mine who'd recently moved to Dawson Creek. I left Vancouver quite late and about midnight found myself driving through the mountains near Cache Creek. As I drove along the mountain crests I noticed far off in the N. West a number of what appeared to be search lights playing on the clouds. At the time I thought there must be an airport over there somewhere. Later on when I checked my maps found nothing but bush and also realized that the lights I'd seen were not shining up at the clouds but down from somewhere above. Shortly after passing Cache Creek it began to snow and I ended up driving for 18 hours. I found my friend, booked into one of the Hotels in town and passed out. She had the weekend off, so the next few days we spend touring the area. The third day I started back to Vancouver. The snow had all melted and I was cruising along about 80 mph. At sunset I was just north of Quesnel and had a large field on my right, as I passed it I noticed what appeared at first glance to be a white bird about the size of a Herring Gull, it took off from about 150 feet away and skimmed across the field at about 3 feet in the air on an interception course with my car. I stepped on the brakes and it passed through my headlight beams about 20 feet in front of me. It then climbed at about a 45-degree angle and shot off up into the sky. As it passed I realized it was not a bird as the wings were fixed and not flapping. My foot came down a little harder and soon I was cruising at 90 mph. Hours later I was back up in the mountains, just south of Cache Creek. I'd not seen another car for hours and I was still rolling along about 90. All of a sudden a brilliant white light shone down on me from somewhere above. It was like the light from a flash bulb, so bright I couldn't even see my own headlights and from what I could make out appeared to be a perfect circle, perhaps several hundred feet in diameter. I floored the gas and went up to about 110 mph. but the light stayed right with me. After a minute or so the light went back out. I could feel all the hairs on the back of my neck standing up and sensed that whatever it was, was still directly over my car. I wanted to stop and take a look but since I was by myself and there was no other traffic I continued to keep my foot in it. About 10 minutes later the light came back on and I got the distinct impression that whoever was behind it wanted me to stop. I went even faster. Just before I reached the Kanaka Bar Restaurant the light went out again. I came around a bend and found the Restaurant right in front of me. A car had just left the Restaurant and I passed him doing about 120 mph. He must have thought I was a UFO. A few miles further on I came over the crest of a mountain and could see a long steep hill in front of me with a curve at the bottom, suddenly my car lost all power and I was flying blind down the hill. I was still doing close to 120 mph and had lost my lights, power steering, power brakes etc. I put both feet on the brake pedal and pushed as hard as I could. I couldn't see the road at all as there are tall trees on each side of the road and it was black. All I could do was try and keep the car heading straight. I kept picturing the road curving up ahead but didn't have the faintest idea how close I was or even if I could make it at the speed I was still going. Without my power assist the car didn't feel as if it was slowing the least. Just as I reached the bottom of the hill my power all of a sudden came back on. Needless to say I made the corner but didn't slow down until I reached the main Trans Canada Highway with all its traffic. I owned that car for more than five years and never before or after did I have any problems with it mechanically or electrically. The loss of power seemed to be their goodbye present as I lost that feeling that they were sitting on my roof just shortly afterwards. I often read or see programs about people losing time during incidents similar to what I went through but don't think I was stopped. I was near Quesnel at sunset which I'd guess to be about 19:00 and hit the Trans Canada near Hope at about 02:00. I was just doing some calculations and they don't work out. Quesnel is about 325 miles north of Hope and at the speed I was going I should have done it in about 3.5 hours not 7, maybe something did happen? I sure don't recall slowing."

"Years later when I first saw the movie Close Encounters it brought it all back again especially the scene where they were all up on the mountain watching the UFO approach above the clouds. When I came out of the theatre after the movie I didn't have the faintest idea where I was nothing seemed familiar and it took several minutes for me to figure out where I was. Several years later I asked some Police Officers if they might have had helicopters working in the Canyon at night and they said not to their knowledge. Too dangerous."

27-July-1968, Tranquille, BC: (10:45 pm) (credit: UFO Hunters)

Hello. I was requested by Dr. Stanton Friedman to report this sighting to you. In late July, 1968, My Grandfather and Grandmother were moving into their new residence on the grounds of The Tranquille Hospital 6 miles from Kamloops, BC, Canada. My grandfather was starting his new job as medical superintendent of The Tranquille Hospital. We spent the day unpacking boxes etc. As it was extremely hot (Kamloops can get to over 100 degrees during the summer), we all (my grandparents, my mother and father, myself, and my sister) stepped outside to cool down. The time was approximately 10:45 PM. As we were standing in the garden, I happened to look up to the SW sky. I observed 6 bright star-like objects flying in circles around each other. I pointed the lights out to everyone there, and they saw the lights too. It seemed as though the lights were playing a game of tag in the sky. The 6 lights continued to fly in erratic patterns in one spot in the sky, sometimes changing direction 180 degrees instantly. The size of the area in the sky the lights occupied was about the size of a dinner plate held at arms length. We continued to observe the lights for approximately 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, the lights started slowing down, and eventually formed a stationary circle of 6 lights. The lights remained stationary in the circular pattern for about 15 seconds, then they all flew outwards in 6 different directions so fast, they were gone in less than 1/4 second. I estimate the speed they flew off in the 1000's of MPH. My grandmother was a believer in extraterrestrials, and was one of the first subscribers to "UFO Magazine" in 1967. I asked my grandmother what the lights were, and she immediately said "Oh, those were flying saucers" the popular term for UFO's in those days. As a person who grew up fascinated by "The Space Age", I thought at the time "no big deal". It was like growing up knowing that exotic animals existed in Africa but never seeing one, and finally seeing one for the first time in a zoo. I now realize how lucky we all were to have witnessed this amazing occurrence. As a footnote, to this day, Tranquille is still a hotspot for UFO sightings. There are large mineral deposits (copper, silver, and gold) in the area, and that may be attracting them to that area.

August 1968, Vancouver, BC:

Large saucer-shape with large triangular-shaped windows on top. Bottom had a smaller protusion (dome) and no window. There was symbols written and lights on outer rim. The windows were lit up brighter than the daylight. There was a slight drone noise. It had followed my fiance and I for about six city blocks, it seemed to keep the same distance and did not appear to move. When we arrived home it was at the same distance away which was close enough to see in the windows. [could not see anything] my neighbours [two] came out and witnessed it. I also called my father who also witnessed it. It hovered for at least five minutes, moved slowly at first, then it took off so fast it was like it disappeared. It is funny but only a few times has it been discussed. This all happened in the bright daylight. This was not at a distance. This thing was huge and close up. It was a grey steel color. It appeared to be about 3 city blocks long. This has bothered me for years. I
do not want people thinking I am nuts.

UFO*BC Responds:

Hi Dan,

Thank-you for the historical report!

With such sightings, it is always difficult for us to investigate, as the details are now a distant memory. However, is there anything else you can add to your report? I do not want to lead you in any way, so I will hold off on my questions until later.
Thanks again for the report.

Richard

PS Was there any reason/event that made you want to report it now, after all these years?

Witness Responds:

Hi Richard. It is hard to explain. One reason is I was not believed by most of those I told. My father [now deceased] was known for his honesty and would never tell someone a lie. When he told my brothers it instantly became the truth. This UFO was not at such a distance you had to guess what it was. It was in your face you could see in the windows, you could see the lights around the outside as well as writing. It was huge and it had followed us for at least six blocks. My fiancé and my neighbours as well as my Dad just stood there saying nothing for at least two minutes. It took off slow then so fast it almost disappeared. When the TV started showing UFO files on sightings it started bothering me, especially with the skeptics. I know what I saw and it was not from here. I know it was following my wife and I. There is no doubt in my mind. We were young. It never entered my mind if we were being set up for an abduction. I am not young anymore - 68 years. I know we are not alone and I believe the Government knows. I do not believe they are a threat at least not yet and if we don't do something stupid. I would welcome any questions you may have.

Dan

ps. thank you for answering.....

August 1968, Vancouver, BC:

Dear ufobc, to add a bit more to my previous email, I was with some friends , we had bb guns and came across a small "flying saucer" on the grass at shaugnessy golf course. I went up to it, to show off for my friends and I actually played "bongos" on this small object it was about as big as a vw beetle but round). I then walked to the side to get a better view of this silver ball like thing and a small 4 ft tall "non human man" was there. He was so pale he was nearly blue had a white suit on that had a blue sash around his waist and looked like the man from glad from tv commercials. I said "My name is Kim" and put my right hand on my heart as I said it and he responded by holding his hands palms upward and made a sound, but he didn't seem to have a tongue.? at one point he put out his right arm and nodded for me to do the same with my left, and I was allowed to compare my hand with his and except for the pallor we were very similar. At this point I heard a voice in my head that spoke the words "Would you like to pray"? and he bowed and put his arms pointing down with palms towards me. I was a bit embarrassed and to get a laugh from my friends who were literally "stunned" I made a gesture to the bb gun in my right pocket. He seemed to sense this and now I had to apologize for this and explained that it was only a bb gun not real and he seemed to understand. I said a few more things then waved and he waved back and I joined my friends. I have also had other close up encounters, one on a street in Vancouver where I was in a beam of light and was inside this "anti-gravity" vehicle. I had a medical exam and was very ill for up to 10 days after. I was called by the "Bigelow group" and spoke at length about this to Bill Jones ...I have 3 other sightings.

Early 1970s, Tranquille (north of Kamloops), BC: (evening) HBCC UFO

Hi Brian, By the way, minutes after I finished the interview with you the other Friday, my younger sister (the one from the 1968 sighting in Tranquille) called from Washington State and I told her about my interview with you and how you had asked me if anyone else in my family had seen any other UFO's. I was unaware of this when I was speaking to you, but my sister and my grandparents had a sighting that I was not aware of. It was in the early 1970's and my grandparents and sister were driving home to Tranquille after going out for dinner in town. My sister said they saw two lights side by side flying west away from the airport. At first, they thought they were seeing the wingtip lights from a plane that had just taken off from the airport, but after about a minute or so, the lights kept moving west, but started moving away from one another while still flying west, i.e. the north "wingtip" light started veering north while the south "wingtip" light veered south. The lights eventually disappeared. I asked her if the lights were flashing like an aircraft wing light but she said no and they were just solid white lights. Anyway, just thought I would pass that along to you.

1970s, Various locations, BC: (Received: April 6, 2004) HBCC UFO

Yes I do believe in UFO's. I have seen a few over the years. About a dozen of us saw a huge triangular ship in Tsawwassen near the Tsawwassen Ferry about 25 miles out of downtown Vancouver. It had about 9 round red lights that were spaced evenly on its edges. The ship looked huge according the distance the red lights were spaced. It was around 8 pm, though it was dark out, the size was easy to distinguish.

A few days later around at 5:30 am a huge triangular shape UFO was hovering over Tsawwassen Hill in Delta, BC which overlooks the Tsawwassen Ferry terminal. Back in 1971 on the Queen Charlottes we watched a round UFO ship which was orange in color with a bright green band through the center of the craft. It was hovering across Masset Village to Masset Island. It had beamed a foot wide band of light on our house, about 10 feet up from the ground. They could have responded to us because we (7 of us) were blinking flashlights at it while we stood watching from the beach shoreline. The night was clear. About a week and a half ago in the same area there were bright balls of light dancing around. Many residents here on Haida Gwaii (Queen Charlotte Islands) witness UFO's so it was not unusual for us to see them.

June 1970, Vancouver, BC: (3 am)

My girlfriend works late at a Vancouver resturant so I would drive from Surrey to Van to pick her up. We were driving past Simon Fraser university on the hwy 1 when I looked out my drivers window up toward SFU. There was a very bright light sitting in one position over SFU, I said to Sandy "look they have a helicopter out with a search light" as Sandy bent to look out my drivers door window the light shot east at such a speed we were able to see the light out of the middle of the front windshield, at that point it went south across the sky in front of us to a point out of sight in a second. The speed at which it traveled was equal to the speed of the light over the Temple Mound in Isreal. This was June 1970.

Summer 1970, Sparwood: (10:00 pm)  NUFORC

“My friends (RN, social worker, public health nurse and an XRay technician) took me on my first outing after the birth of my son (July 22/70) to a drive-in movie theatre between Fernie and Sparwood, B.C. We had finished seeing the movie and I was about to drive away when I saw an enormous, bright white round light coming around the side of a nearby mountain (small mountain, but bigger than hill). I pointed it out to the others and we discussed whether it was a logging truck (no roads there, besides it was to the side of the mountain) or the moon (moon was in a different position). Scared the living daylights out of us and I sped the car over to the, by now, only remaining vehicle - a family in a station wagon with kids. I yelled at them to look and they took off like bats out of hell. I was quickly on their heels.”

“What is intriguing about this is that we all lived in Fernie and gossip was a way of life in a small town. We never discussed this after. About 13 - 15 years later, I remembered it and mentioned it to one of the women who was there and she seemed to think it was a logging truck. I know what I saw and there was no logging truck that could hang off the side of a mountain and certainly no truck could've produced lights that size. (There was only one light. On the form above, I ticked off 1 craft but we never actually saw a craft - only this enormous white ball.) Whatever it was, it was moving very slowly around the mountain. It was awesome and terrifying at the same time.”

“There were a lot of UFO sightings in Fernie, witnessed by many credible people, including RCMP officers. When Cranbrook airport was called after these events, one would be told that nothing had appeared on the radar screens.”

“Since that event, I have experienced many paranormal experiences. I don't know whether there is any connection or not, but thought I should mention it. It's only now that I finally have a computer, that I'm able to find someone to report this to.”

“Eric Byler at Oregon UFO suggested I write and sends his regards.”

Jul-1970, West Vancouver, BC: (7:00pm)
As you can see I witnessed this awhile ago, and never could find anyone to tell me exactly what I saw. This occurred near 484 Gordon Ave. It was after supper and I had just left my house to go to beach. I walked across my lawn and on to the empty street. I was facing due west. I hadn't taken more than a few steps when I started noticing small silver balls around the size of golf balls coming over top of the house, that was on the adjacent street that ran the other way from my street about half a block away. They passed at all different heights; one even grazed my ankle. I glanced to my right to my house and noticed that the cat had come out of the house behind me. It was extremely startled. Gordon was or is a dead end street there and I could hear them crashing through the trees and bush behind me. Have you ever heard of anything like this before? Could this be some natural phenomenon? They almost seemed to move more like animals than something mechanical. They made sort of a shishing sound.

Sept-1971, Delta, BC : (9:45 pm)

This is a sighting I experienced in Sept 1971 in Delta BC. This experience has been reported to The National UFO Reporting center. As this sighting happened here in BC, I wanted to have it entered on this sight as well. I guess the thing that really stands out from the encounter was the way the object moved. When leaving its stationary position it moved in a wave formation with a shorter wavelength. Once it set down above the corn field and then a few seconds later starting moving again in a short wavelength. Then as it extended its wavelength as it sped up to an astonishing speed where the wavelength was very long and zipped into space. It was at about a 30 degree trajectory from the ground as it zipped into space. It seemed to only take 3 to 5 seconds from the time it left our location, till it was no longer visible. I estimated it left our atmosphere at a few hundred thousand kilometers per hour, at speed. After it reached speed you could no longer see the wave formation but only a streak of light.

1972 or perhaps earlier, Chilliwack, BC: (approx 9:00 pm) HBCC UFO

A number of years ago a friend and I had a UFO sighting. To this day I can recall the sighting in exact specific detail. I could take you to the spot and relive the whole event right up until the UFO suddenly stopped N/NW of our location over the Coastal Mountains of British Columbia. It went right, went left, went back to center and then simply dropped with sudden speed out of sight below the mountain.

I do not recall the exact date and that is why I am emailing you. Re: the UFO info & UFO roundup sighting report form on the UFO info site mentioned the fact that without the date, it pretty well a waste of your time for me to fill out the form. If this is true, please take the time to reply and I will not bother you again. Kindest regards.

7-July-1972 Prince George, BC: (12:45 am) HBCC UFO

Full Description of event/sighting: 1972. Both my former wife and I saw an orange ball come toward us and flash before our eyes. I thought I was nuts. I asked her if she had seen it as I had. She said that she had. We were driving home to my parent’s house and she was sitting in the car right beside me. I looked up and I saw this orange ball coming out of the sky towards us, then a flash and then it was gone.

Fall 1972, Victoria, BC:

I saw a small red fireball-type of object, about 3 feet in diameter, outside a dormitory window, in very close proximity, at St. Michael’s University School. It lit up the room and woke up three of us. We were told it was probably a weather balloon but it seemed to move with a purpose or intelligence. I don’t know what it was and I keep wondering about it to this day.

UFOBC responds:
Thank you for your report. It is an interesting one and we always like hearing stuff from a few decades back. How did you eventually lose sight of the object? Who did you report it to that told you it was a weather balloon? How long did you observe it for? What time of the night was it?

Witness replies:
It is very hard to remember the details as I was only 11 or 12 years old. I had almost forgotten about it until one day …a woman from across the room (in which I was sitting) was shining a small red flashlight at me… I think this is what made me recall the incident.

For every two dorms of boys at the school, there were two “preps”, as we called them, who were university students in charge of lights out, etc. They had a room to themselves in between the dorms. They were to whom we reported the red fireball. They sort of laughed at us and said, “It was just a weather balloon.” I felt sort of stupid because I had never seen a weather balloon and didn’t think they could catch fire and hover just outside my window. The thing I remember most was waking up to the room illuminated with red light (1:00 am or 2:00 am is my guess). My friend in the bed next to me and the boy across from me also woke up and the three of us, (out of) ten or so in the dorm, watched this thing, sort of probing around in the trees outside the second storey window. I can’t be sure how long we watched it; it may have been anywhere form 10 seconds to a couple of minutes. As I recall, it just took off or disappeared. I don’t remember it making any sound.

UFOBC responds:
Thank you very much for answering the questions. Boy, don’t you just wish that those two “preps” saw it, too?

1973, White Lake BC :

The witness, Corlyn, arrived at her home at White Lake (20 min. from Salmon Arm) to discover a silver bell-shaped craft located about 60-100 feet away. It displayed a red light on the left, a blue light on the right and a flashing white light on the top. It was about 30 feet wide and 30 feet high, with three vertical ridges across the body. It was moving back and forth. Corlyn told it to "back off", and it did! Apart from her dog and cat howling the whole area seemed to be enveloped in a gray pallor and sound asleep. Nothing moved. After ½ hour she put the animals indoors. The object moved across the lake 100' and towards Salmon Arm. Total viewing time 1 hour.

1974 or 1975, Vancouver Island :

My whole family watched what appeared to be two stars in the sky, one noticeably bigger that the other. The bigger one kept travelling back and forth. These two were a long ways up... they looked like stars. We watched this phenomenon for about 4 hours. When it got light outside, we lost site of this. Do you know anyone that has witnessed anything like this before? Your thoughts appreciated...John

UFOBC replies:
Hello John, how much back-and-forth did the one light do? Just little squiggles or back and forth across a good portion of the sky? If the former it could have been eye movement that makes it look like it was moving. This is a common effect. If it crossed major portions of the sky and was able to make sharp and fast turns and sudden reversals then it was something unusual. There are plenty of those types of sightings on our web site.

Where and when (Date&Time) did your family see these? What direction were they looking? Where the lights in a different direction at the end of the 4 hours then when they first started being watched? If yes, what were these directions?

Hi...thanks very much for your reply. This happened way back in August 1974 ( might of been 1975). It was on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. It was my two brothers and my Dad. This definitely was not a trick of our eyes, as we all talked out loud and described to each other what was happening at the time. We were all saying the same thing. ( for the record, I'm not looking for any great answers, just thought I would drop you a line). I will now answer your questions.

--We were laying on our backs, and if I was to reach my arm out to full extension, and measure using my thumb and finger as a guide, I would say the moving light was moving back and forth a distance of 4 to 6 inches. As far as I can remember, it moved pretty much non stop for say a half hour, then it would stop for a while..then start up again..then stop for a while, then start moving again for a while, no real pattern of starting and stopping. The moving light always seemed to travel the same distance. Just back and forth...no sharp turns. The stationary light did not move at all.

--We were looking pretty much straight up at this.

--By the time light came, I'm pretty sure these were in the same position as when it had started.

Thank-you...John

March 1975, Surrey, BC:

Sitting in a first floor classroom at Frank Hurt Secondary School on a grey March day in 1975, I looked out the window to the sky. This window would have been looking south. At that time, there was a small hill leading up to a portable classroom at the back of the school, right in front of a sports field. I was in grade 9 at the time attending a social studies class. Looking out the window, I could see the high tension wires strung between two towers that carried power to the area. At first, I thought I was looking at the apparatus that are fixed on the wires to warn low-flying aircraft of the presence of wires.

What I saw were three shapes. Gray/sliver in color, definitely saucer shaped with a sort of 'dome' in the middle, what I would call a 'classic ufo shape'. They were formed in a triangle, with two low, one high in the middle. It's hard for me to say how far away they were, although I believed that they might have been several hundred feet away because of the way the gray light was playing on them. I thought "helicopters", but then the top object changed positions with the bottom two at what appeared to me to be blinding, incredible speed. "Jet fighters", I thought, but then they were NOT MOVING, but were motionless. They were not flying as a plane or a jet flies, but rather hovering like a helicopter. When they changed position again, I noticed that they had triangulated themselves again, except much higher.

I dared not move my eyes from the window, and I kept watch on these three craft like a hawk. I am not given to hallucinations; I have never used any form of drugs (other than penicillin) nor had I ever had anything to drink at that age. I was clear-headed, awake, alert, and incredulous as I went through mental checklists to determine if what I was witnessing was indeed real. The craft began to change positions again and again, screaming in straight lines at blinding speeds so that their position changes seemed instantaneous, although they had to have been traveling several hundred feet or more at time. They stopped suddenly and completely, not as a car or helicopter would stop, but abruptly without losing control or even flinching. I could not discern any 'spinning' motion clearly, but it was clear that these craft were able to move quickly and silently with precision and stealth. After roughly 6 or 7 minutes they began to 'float' upwards, slowly, then formed a straight line and in a blink went straight up and out of site. The whole time I watched them, they were in triangle, perfectly still in the air, and made (true, I was inside the school building behind a closed window) no sound at all. I noted that you could hear people talking outside the window later on, and a jet passed by and I could hear that, but these craft made no noise at all.

Gray/Silver - Round, or saucer-shaped with a 'dome' on the top (it would be easy to show you what I mean. So many have pictures of the craft strikingly similar to what I saw that day) Lightning quick movements Triangle shaped formation of three craft. I saw them. I was pinching myself the whole time. It was in my mind to ask a fellow student name Rick M. sitting at the table beside me to witness the phenomena too, but I did not want to look away. I wonder what they were. I have theories, but I really am curious. This was 34 years ago now. One of the strangest occurrences in my life to date.

Summer 1975, Kennedy Lake, Vancouver Island, BC:

I was driving out to the west coast by myself. Several kilometers before the Uclulet turnoff (Long Beach, Pacific Rim Park) you have to drive past Kennedy Lake. The road was rather treacherous with steep winding curves. As I came around one corner I saw this object, hovering over the lake. It was HUGE...seemed to be too bright? glowing lights, maybe joined together. This was gigantic, it seemed like the size of a hotel just sitting there above the lake. There is absolutely nothing in that area but wilderness, and so could not have been anything other than what it was, a craft from another planet or time. Unfortunately I was terrified and put my hand to my face to block out the sight as much as possible and still drive. I remember crying and saying over and over "please don't beam me up".  When I got back home after the weekend I went to work at the local radio station and learned that an UFO was sighted travelling across the lower mainland and Vancouver island that same night.

UFO*BC Responds:

Thank-you for the report. It is certainly an interesting one for sure! Too bad it was too bad it was so long ago, else it would be great to be able to see if anyone else saw the craft.

Would you be able to draw what it looked like for us? Any chance you can pinpoint the location on a  map (google map link perhaps?) Was there anything that occurred to you in the last 40 (or so) years since the sighting? Any reason in particular you decided to contact us now? Either way, I am very glad you did contact us and look forward to hearing from you!

Thanks!
Richard

PS - I'm glad to see that you were a StarTrek fan from way back!!

Sunner 1976, Ucluelet, BC: (11pm) (Reported 25-Aug-2023)

This is a sighting from 1976 and I would love to hear from any of the hundreds/thousands if other British Colombians who witnessed this craft. I was traveling alone by car along highway 4 to Uclulet, around 11 pm, summer of 1976. As I rounded a sharp corner Kennedy Lake came into view. I saw a huge craft hovering above the lake. It was 2 brilliant glowing lights and looked to be attached to each other. I don't know the size but I told people it was like a huge hotel, definitely not a puny helicopter.  I did not stop to get a closer look, I was terrified and held my hand up to block it from my view, kept driving, crying and saying "please don't beam me up". When I arrived back home in Duncan a couple days later I learned several people in my family saw a huge craft in the sky that same night, moving westward. Next day I learned radio stations across the lower mainland received numerous reports from people seeing the same thing.

I KNOW this was a craft from another planet or time. Kennedy Lake is a remote lake away from civilization. Many people witnessed this UFO across southwest BC that night but so far I haven't read any other reports and although I don't need the validation it would be great to hear from any of them.

UFO*BC Notes: This is similar to the Fox Lake "Giant UFO Report" - but predates it by 20+ years.

Circa 1976-1981, Rossland, BC:

I was outside watching some boys playing street hockey on the lower road from our house ,it was dark out and cold but it wasn't late and there was no snow on the ground yet .i was standing in the doorway when i looked up at what they call asshole mountain .when I saw what looked like the moon directly behind the mountain it had the same colour as the moon but was much smaller but the same size as the mountain .i called my mom at that point to show her what I was looking at. (I had no idea of what an ufo was ,when my mom saw it she looked scared and ran in the house to call her friend to go take a look but by the time her friend got outside it was gone it was only there for around a minute or two).

I have asked my mom about what we seen that night now that I'm grown up but she has no idea either but she does remember seeing it .no one i know seen it that night but her .what could it have been I'll never forget that night.

1977 or 1978, Gibsons, BC:

It was around Christmas time of 1977 or 1978. My family and i were visiting relatives and had a clear view from Gibsons across the water to Keats Island. Suddenly, we saw some kind of craft changing all different colours travelling over Keats Island. After all these years, none of us have ever forgot seeing it.

1977/1978, North Vancouver, BC:

I was a little girl, about 4-5 years old. Sitting in the passenger seat of the car. Driving home from Lions Gate Hospital. We just visited my grandma. Mom promised to stop at the corner store on West third  looking forward to a candy stash. We turned into west 6. Heading towards Mahon. It was dark out and a very clear night.

I looked towards the Church. Hovering above the steeple was this thing. I didn't know what it was. Never seen or heard of such things. Nor did I know they existed. Mom went quiet. She stopped the car, stared a moment, then turned the car right around. I was so confused. She said she didn't know what it was.

It was about the size of 10 or more cars. All silver. Had white lights all around its edges. You could see them rotating with the craft. Very slowly directly above the church cross. I had no idea what it was. We drove straight home.

Mom asked me to go tell my father what we had seen. I had no clue. So I went to the kitchen and grabbed two cereal bowls put them rim to rim. Told them about the lights and how it was so still but turning. He said it was a UFO. They were not sure what it was. He also told me it wouldn't hurt me. I had nightmares for months.

I was hoping by sharing this story others will come forward.  Someone else had to see this.

1978, Vancouver, BC:

Hello,

So, after telling this story for once in a while since 1978 or something near that date. And having searched for a similar story. I found one on your site (see above: 1977/1978, North Vancouver, BC). First time going to this site.

Here is what I saw as a teenager way back at the same time.

I was on my way home from a part time job I had that ended in the late evening. I locked up and took the bus from around Spokane & Hastings St. heading west. I used to get off at Commercial & Hastings then transfer to take the bus on Commercial Drive to head South down to Victoria & 53rd. That night when I left work and got off to transfer and grab another bus at the corner of Hastings and Commercial I was at the bus stop in front of the gas station on the corner waiting. I was looking for when the bus would show up, so I'm looking north west waiting for the bus to come around the corner. While doing that something caught my eye in the sky westerly. An object was hovering slowly moving north then back again and slowly moving out north again, but a bit westerly. I could not see the shape or colour of the object but it had white lights rotating counter clockwise and the shape of the lights were rectangular. The object seemed to be rotating slowly. I actually went to the gas station and the attendant came out to have a quick look and had no idea what that was and had to go back in. I would never of asked someone to have a look also, but I had a chill go up my back. Something I had never seen before. No sound. It was a clear night. It just started to move slowly northwest and the bus came and I got on and went home. I told my parents and my dad said that a work friend said his daughter saw something over a corner store or something and also the following days later it was mentioned in the newspaper. It was just nice knowing that I was not the only one who saw it. I tried to blow it off over the years as a blimp with the light one on the bottom. But this thing had the lights slowly rotating and very clearly defined white light and they were rectangular in shape.

That's it ! The End.

1978, Vancouver, BC:

Hello,

My name is Sandy. Myself along with my brother and sister and many neighbors on our street witnessed a round silver object flying in the sky making fast movements, we were all sitting on our couch when we looked outside and saw the object in the sky, our mother who was on the phone, didn’t see it initially, though I can recall all three of us were screaming, "Mommy! Mommy! Come see!" and we were trying hard to get her attention without taking our eyes off this object. I would have been about 4 years old, my brother 5 and my sister 8 We can all clearly remember this happening. We also recall running outside to our street and watching from the street along with many neighbors to watch this object. The man next door had out his camera and was taking a lot of pictures. By this time our mother had come outside as well. Shortly after we gathered outside the craft shot off and within 2-3 seconds was gone. The following day our neighbor (the man that had taken pics) said a few men had come by his house and taken his camera and film. Our grandmother had also called my mom the night it happened as she had also seen something in the sky over Vancouver (BC). This had all taken place in 1978 I cannot recall which month.

I always look online to see if anyone else had written about the same incident and to see what they recall, but there is a lot of info and as I was quite young some details seem foggy, although I'm 100% sure of its occurrence as both my siblings recalled it exactly as I had.

August 1977, Surrey/Coquitlam, BC:

As in your historical sightings file. August 1977- Agassiz, BC
I can confirm seeing something very similar to this person's sighting over the Port Mann bridge, except it was too far away to make out windows. The mother ship was red and travelled south to north out of Surrey and stopped over the bridge. Then four green objects followed the same path and stopped in a straight line over Coquitlam spaced equidistant apart. At that point, the four green objects started travelling slowly in a westerly direction. When they had passed the horizon I could see the red object shot after them at a very rapid speed.

Summer 1978, Gambier Island, BC: (10 pm)

This is a reply to the person who saw sightings and abductions at a camp fire on Gambier Island. My sister and I, with 12 other kids including two camp guides, saw a UFO hover above us. On this night, it was camp fire night, we were the last group to the camp fire. We were walking along the trail with our flashlights on the ground, when the ground began to change colour, we were wondering where the light was coming from then we looked up and there it was, a round shaped object hovering over us, actually in front of us about 50 feet and above the tree line about 30 feet. We were all amazed and scared. We weren't sure what we saw but we knew it didn't make any noise. It went over the trees, out of sight towards the archery field. I told everyone I wanted to go there to see if it landed, only 4 of us went as the others went to the camp fire to see if anyone else saw the ufo. The 4 of us headed thru the trail to the archery fields and nothing was there, I wanted to wait there for the ufo to return or show up but my friends were too scared. We went to the camp fire and talked about it most of the night.

My sister and I can still remember exactly what happened. I have never seen a ufo since but I do believe in ufo's because I saw one and I always wonder to this day, if any one at that camp was ever abducted.

In the past two years I have been thinking more and more about ufo's, area 51 and google mapping the area, very strange designs of triangles, circles, faces and what looks to be a bird. I have also heard robotic noises that wake me up, sounds like robotic communication outside my window and from my apartment, and when I open my eyes and awake, nothing. It's very strange.

20-Jul-1978, Campbell River, BC: (9 pm)

It was about 9pm on a clear summer evening, no stars were visible at this time. I was standing in an open parking lot talking with some friends. I just happened to look up towards the sky and suddenly two very bright lites appeared in the sky. Slowly they came towards each other and seemed to stop momentarily, then the two objects zig-zagged in opposite directions as if they were communicating. This lasted only seconds. Suddenly they sped off in opposite directions at a speed that was very fast, faster than anything I ever observed. I cannot estimate the hieght that these objects appeared, but I would say maybe between 25,000 and 40,000 feet. My friends did not witness this it happened so fast. As I explained myself, they just laughed and made the remark that I was seeing things. But I know different, what I saw could not have been from this world, it was most definitely a very strange occurence.

29-Oct-1978, Leo Creek: (4:20 am)

It was a very clear evening. I was working on the green chain at Netherlands Overseas Mill at Leo Creek B.C. (72 miles N.W. of Ft. St. James) along with another worker when I noticed a donut shaped cloud just above the mills beehive burner to the north. There were no other clouds in the sky in that direction and the sky was filled with stars. Smoke was rising from the burner and at first I thought that it was smoke from the burner but the circular cloud was moving slowly in a NE to SW direction and appeared to be just over Mt. Dixon. I called out to my partner and commented on the shape of the cloud being like a donut since it had a hole in the center. We stopped working and kept watching when all of a sudden from the center of the donut shaped cloud, (the center being about the size of a full moon) a bright light appeared which looked like a bright shiny star. A few seconds later the star formed into a yellowish-orange then to a totally orange moon-sized object. The cloud was still visible around this orange object. Gradually, the orange mass started to fade away from right to left of the inside of the donut shaped cloud into the shape of a half moon then to just a sliver of a moon, then back to just a vacant hole in center of donut shaped cloud except that there was a haze-like appearance left after the orange mass faded out. There was a thin line visible ahead of the cloud. The line was shaped like a "V" and resembled a heat wave. We viewed the object for a period of about 5-6 minutes as it slowly moved across the sky. During that time, the sequence of the star appearing in center of cloud and expanding to an orange moon-shape and fading out was repeated three times before the object disappeared over the mountains. Northern lights were visible in that portion of the sky that morning but the object appeared much closer and at first we thought maybe 10 miles. The same day I dropped by the railway station and spoke to the person in charge of what we had witnessed that morning and he went on to tell me that a train crew in Fort Nelson working the night shift had also reported a strange object in the sky similar to what we had. It is interesting to note that Ft. Nelson is about 500 miles to the north of Leo Creek which would indicate that this object must have been massive and at a very high altitude. A short time after this incident, I read an article in the paper about an airline pilot observing a UFO over Australia. The description given by the pilot was very similar to what we had observed. One could describe the center of the donut-shaped cloud as what it may appear like to watch a rocket engine ignite looking directly at the underside of the rocket engine.

 1978-1979, Duncan, BC:

Hi, It’s been 35 years and I think I am ready to tell my story. When I told people when I was younger they would think I was crazy or making up a very big story. I then decided to be quiet and keep it to myself. It was good weather so it could have been between spring and early fall of 1978-79 can’t remember which year.

I lived off of Gibbons road in Duncan, BC. I was walking to my friends house (one street up from mine) to help her babysit her brother. When I got there we decided to walk to the store at the end of her street to get some candy. Her, I and her little brother were walking back when all of a sudden there was this huge round object over head. It was just over the tree tops, that close to us. We all freaked out, (our words back then) and ran to her home. We all hid under her couch but I couldn’t help but look out her big window which had a bit of a view. I could see this object slowly fly around her house and neighbourhood almost like it was searching for something. It had white lights flashing all around it’s middle, like they were spinning around the object. I remember that it was huge like the size of a small house. It disappeared over the Cowichan river. When I told my mom she said it was probably a helicopter with a big advertising sign behind it flying around. I know what I saw but like I said, I kept quiet to avoid ridicule and teasing from my friends. My friend and I never talked about it. I am hoping someone will read this story and maybe they saw something that day too.

1979, Nelson, BC : (Lakeside Park at midnight)

Hello,I ’ve wanted to tell someone this since 1979.  This all took place in Nelson bc in 1979 at lakeside park at midnight.

Myself and six of my friends were at lakeside on a Sunday night ,it was quiet and no one else was around.  We were standing at the eastern side of the walkway beside the car park, it was a cloudy night and the clouds were low lying about halfway down elephant mountain. The mountain directly in front of us across the kootenay river..  all of a sudden a craft dropped directly straight down to approx 20 feet above the river.

It was approx 300 ft from us, the craft was approx 80 ft long ,50 ft wide and 12 ft high, it had 5 lights  and it was a triangle in shape .

The lights were large, 6 ft long 3 ft wide ,2 ft high . T

he craft travelled approx five miles per hour in a eastern direction and travelled under the bridge. As it travelled under the bridge it made a sound like when a locomotive goes into dynamic brake, after it travelled under the bridge “bob” the craft again was completely silent.

Once the craft travelled under the bridge it shot off at a 45 degree angel in a blink of an eye ..the craft was 300 ft in front of us and it was seen up close.. the craft was black in colour and from there on in no one can tell me that ufos aren’t real......

1-Mar-1979, Victoria BC : (2:00 pm)

"While working in a Victoria office building on the corner of Douglas and Hillside I noticed a vertical dark 'smoke ring' moving from south to north out the west facing windows on the third floor. I estimate this ring to be less than a kilometer away and for some reason, though there were many people around me working, I did not mention it to anyone. Once I noticed it I became transfixed to it, watching it swirl and move at a speed that would be the width of the window in approx. 30 seconds. Less than 50 mph?? Dark in color, and appearing definitely as 'smoke' it did not diminish in any way, was translucent (a dull, grey, high cloud, no rain typical Victoria day). It moved in a straight line across my field of view not moving up or down, but it was 'swirling' much like a ring out the barrel of a naval gun or a cigarette smoker's mouth. It lasted a long time; I venture to guess at least five minutes. As this was about 25 years ago, and since I have never mentioned it to anyone, I cannot recall if it disappeared altogether or just from my view. But it WAS there, and nobody else around me saw or mentioned it."

Mid-June 1979, 2 miles NE of 122 Mile House, BC:

I was standing outside of my girlfriend’s parents’ cabin with my girlfriend. We were looking toward the north, over the small dammed-up lake behind the cabin when we saw, to the east, a light blue glow that looked to be originating below the tree line. Then a large blue ball came up over the trees and took off toward the west. The ball looked to be about 500 to a thousand feet above the ground. What surprised us both was we heard no sound, nothing. The blue ball moved at a high rate of speed; we didn’t say a thing about it, until 20 or so years later when I met her again and asked her what she saw that night and she confirmed what I thought I saw that night. When I asked my father, he told me…See Mid-Summer-1955, 100 Mile House, BC report.

21-Aug-1979, Pender Island, BC:

This happened at night about 10:30 pm my children and I went to bed and my son age 5 woke me up saying mommy make them go away. I first thought he was dreaming but he told me to look up in the sky outside the tent. I saw a very bright light there. He told me they wanted to come and get him. He was very scared. I could not hear anything but he said he could hear them. Do you think this was just a dream or could it have been real.

UFO*BC Responds:

Thank-you for the report - very interesting account!

Sadly, there is no definitive way of saying one way or another. As anyone with children knows, 5-year olds have amazingly vivid imaginations. However, what you describe has many elements found in typical abduction cases. Has your son (or anyone else in your family) had any other experiences since that event?  One question for you, can you describe anything about the light? Did you watch it for any length of time?

I think it is likely you will never know the answer to your question, perhaps it was an abduction (although he did not appear to be abducted) - but perhaps, it was just a vivid dream that brought on by sleeping outdoors.

I look forward to hearing back. Thank-you again for the report.

Late 70s, Victoria BC

I remember my dad telling me about this....and I wish I had listened better.
My Mom and Dad had lived in Victoria about 1949, but I'm more inclined to believe this story was from when he had to go work near Victoria in the late 70's. My dad use to work for BC Hydro, and I'm pretty sure he said that he and 2 other co workers were standing on a bridge (maybe near a dam), and they watched a UFO for quite a while. I'm not sure if this was really close to Victoria (downtown)...or out near Jordan river where he had to sometimes go to work....I wish I could remember more, but I remember that much. I think he said they could see it quite clearly too....

UFO*BC Responds:

Thank-you for your sighting. I was wondering if you could remember any more details about what your father saw that day. I realize it may be tough to remember, but any further details are appreciated!

Thank-you,

After May 1980, Port Coquitlam, BC:

It was late one night. My wife and I were coming home from Burnaby. We were going over the red bridge off of Lougheed Highway on Pitt River Road. Back then it was a wooden bridge with lots of forested areas and a few clearings. As we cleared the bridge, we had to stop because there was a major line of cars stopped on the road. People were outside of their cars looking up. We stopped and got out of the car and looked up as well....

There was a MASSIVE dark object above. It must have been half the size of Port Coquitlam. It was about 100 meters above the tree line. We could see the outer edge which had windows but could not see into the windows. There were very bright white lights on the bottom of this UFO as well. It was completely silent. I would guess we stood there for 5 minutes before the object took off at a tremendous speed toward the north-east without a sound.

Everyone got into their car and left in a hurry. As we got in our car, I overheard someone mention they were going home to turn on the news because this was "earth changing" news. I got really excited and took off home. I turned on the TV thinking this was it. This was first contact.

... sadly nothing on the news. Nothing in the paper the next day. Nothing.

Looking back I wish I got the name and number of a few of the people there. Looking back (and this is really bad) we had a camera in the car and did not even think to take a photo. We were so awe struck and figured this was the end of being alone in the universe that pictures were not needed. Lesson learned.

Summer-1980, Arbutus Cove, Victoria BC: (midnightish)

A friend of mine picked me up at the Ravens Restaurant where I was working around 11 at night. I lived with my parents still in Gordon Head so we drove down to the cove to share a six-pack. When we got to the bottom of the stairs onto the sandy beach area we walked maybe ten steps when the whole area around us lit up like a colored mirror ball effect. I was looking at the ground wondering what the….? when I realized my buddy was making a low guttural sound and looking up. Just as I trained my eyes on what he was looking at the light on us went out and I could make out its source. Maybe thirty feet above the trees was a cigar shaped tube roughly forty feet long and ten in diameter, stationary. It had a barely visible outline that would have been really hard to see had I not had a chance to focus on it before the light on us went out. It silently disappeared over the trees towards town. We sat down had our beers and didn’t even mention what we saw until we were back at home. Haunts me to this day, what the hell was that?

Early 1980's. Cherryville, BC:

When I was around 10 years old in the early 1980's my family and I lived up Sugar Lake Road in Cherryville, BC. One night as we sat listening to the radio, it went all static. It was night time out and dark. We went outside and travelling from east to west over Sugar Lake was a slowly spinning, multi coloured object.

1981, Tsawwassen BC :

"During August I was camped with friends and several hundred other people alongside the causeway to the Ferry Terminal just north of the US border. Near midnight what appeared to be a large Emerald Green Meteor flashed overhead traveling west to east. I remember glancing around as it went over and as far as the eye could see was lit up almost like a green daylight. I had never seen anything like it before and neither had anyone else we talked to. The only light I can recall being similar is burning copper."

Spring, 1981 or 1982, Furry Creek, BC:

My husband and I were driving home from an event in Vancouver, when he suddenly pulled over at Furry Creek saying "did you see that?"  I didn't until I too, got out of our Mazda and looked up at the night sky. There was an oval cylinder just moving along in the sky, as it passed clouds you could see them in the open oval of the UFO. There was a slight hum but not much noise. I had a terrifying feeling of danger and demanded he get back in the car and get us out of there as fast as he could go. I told just my parents but no one else for a long time. About 10 years later, at work, a friend who was very interested in UFO sightings brought a book in for me to look at as it had a lot of pictures of UFO sightings. My heart nearly stopped because one of the pictures was exactly what I'd seen back in the early '80's.

July-1981, Og Lake, BC:

In 1981 (late July) my parents sent me to the YMCA summer Camp Chief Hector (near Canmore, AB).

We had a choice to ether go horse back trail riding or go on a hike along the continental divide. I chose the hike as I'm not a big fan of riding horses. We had 10 days to hike from highway 93 just across the BC border near Ball Pass on the way to Radium to Spray Lakes Reservoir back in Alberta via Mount Assiniboine Provincial Park's Wonder Pass. On about day five we had to hike from Porky Pine Creek to Og Lake through a section known as The Valley Of The Rocks. This is a strange valley as there is no fresh water for about 10 miles only stagnant ponds of undrinkable water. Halfway through this valley we walked by a pond about 50 feet across and what looked to be about four feet deep in the centre. There was a set of human looking tracks running right through the middle. Now what really struck me was the colour of the water. It almost looked like tea (yellowish brown) and smelt like rotten eggs. Who in their right mind would do this and not just walk around it? Any way we camped overnight at Og Lake then spent two days at Mt. Assiniboine. Then early the second last day we hiked over Wonder Pass down to Spray Lakes Reservoir and camped on the edge of the lake. After waking up the next morning the other guys ask me if I heard something creeping around in the bushes after we went to bed. I hadn't, being so exhausted I fell a sleep almost immediately. They told me something was hanging around near the camp site for quite a while just outside of the campfire light. It's almost like something followed us through the pass. We then hiked to the dam and were picked up by the camp van. Thank you for your time.

1983-1985, Gambier Island, BC:

To whom it may concern,

I really don't know how to start this other than to just get to the point, so I will! As a young child, I was put into a camp on Gambier Island for the summers; however I can't recall the years for some reason. I was speaking with someone many years after the event took place which I will get into later in my story. During my conversation, this person talked about his experiences as growing up and quintessentially, his childhood took place mainly on Gambier Island. For whatever reason, he started to talk about an event that took place many times. He states that he witnessed, his mother being abducted in his "dreams" however states that this isn't a dream or real and can't be explained in words. As the story continues, he starts explaining an event that takes place many years after and he recalls, him and a couple of friends camping and being witness to an event that takes place many miles away, without going into too many details, he speaks of a story which becomes all to real for me! As he is telling this story it brings up a swarm of feelings and emotions I have not felt for quite sometime and unfortunately allows me to recall an event that I believe I completely closed off for many years. His story is so much like mine, I still can't help feeling confused about the event and in some way try to ignore it like it wasn't factual. To tell you the truth, I still can't say with 100% surety that this event took place, but I can say that still to this day, I have feelings that put me into high anxiety, fear and confusion when i try to recall the events.

Please forgive me as I am not the best writer...

I and many of my friends are celebrating some of our last days at Camp Fircom, many of us are sitting on the dock and I can vividly remember a number of kids sitting around a campfire onshore not more than 200-250 feet from where I was sitting. Someone pointed to a light that was doing acrobatics in the sky and almost seemed to dance, making huge upward journeys, flashing and falling behind the mountains "I believe Bowen Island". Many of us watched with amazement and I can remember thinking that this isn't right for some reason, that this wasn't anything that I have ever seen or could understand. I don't remember how long or how many people were on the dock with me, but I can only guess that there was about 10-15 of us. All of sudden, this object was over top of us and it wasn't your typical round flying saucer but it was huge and almost transparent with the typical lights however it didn't make one bit of sound, in fact this is where I start to doubt myself because there isn't ways to describe this object only that like being in a single frame from a movie. I remember being frozen and being aware of this moment, no sound, not even from the others, no movement everyone just staring at this massive object moving over top of us! I don't remember feeling fear or excitement however I remember as this object slowly went over us, once it went over the treeline and was gone, I have a hard time articulating what happened next. It was like a thousand voices screaming in the inner part of your head, complete panic, people screaming and I can remember running to my cabin crying, only to find the others in the same shape. What was more interesting was, nobody spoke about this the next day and that includes myself however I can still remember how weird this felt, almost like if you spoke about it, it was going to happen again. I have never publicly spoken about this and feel a weird sense of shame/fear but I am wondering if you have ever heard anything about this or if this story makes any sense....

My guess is that I went to this camp in the summer months sometime between 1983 to 1985 http://www.campfircom.bc.ca/ and wondering in your research if there are any similar stories.

1984 - 1985, Vancouver, BC
: (11:00 pm)

I remember playing Ghost Buster soundtrack several times that year as a young child. That night I awoke to my front door open. It was dark outside and there was fog like mist coming up the stairs. I felt afraid but a grey came to the entrance and I was suddenly down the stairs and outside. I know time passed but the next thing I remember was being outside on the front lawn looking up at a band of red orb like lights, it sounded like a humming helicopter. It then flew up and away from the Trout Lake area towards the southwest. I remember then feeling the cold around me outside and walked in my house. I was about 5, but this memory has been in my head for 28 years now. Does anyone remember something odd around Trout lake in Vancouver BC around 1984-1985 ish.

1984, Vancouver BC : (4:00 am)

"From 1972 to 1986, I worked as a Security Guard which meant I was outside most nights. During the summer at about 04:00 I observed another of those large Green Meteors? pass overhead, once again traveling west to east. Just before it disappeared it appeared to break up into 3 or 4 pieces which shot off in different directions, it did not appear to burn up, but just seemed to shoot off into space."

July 1984, Sooke area Vancouver Island BC - Reported August 21st 2008,

Around dusk, discovered a low humming coming from behind us, we lived next to forest reserve. We came along a back fire road up to a gravel pit around 10 minutes walk and climbed the closest hill with shrubbery. The sound was much louder and what we saw I'll never forget. A large elongated structure, metallic with bright lights up high. It was on stilts off the ground maybe 4-6 feet. What really struck me was there were no people at all or any common vehicles around, no cars or trucks. I was totally amazed at the whole thing when as sudden as could, a light moved and shone on us which freaked us both up and we both ran home in a panic. The next day we went to check out this site and even though I was leaving footprints, they were no signs of the previous nights strange happenings, no marks from last night in the soft ground, no tire marks coming in and out. Never did get any answers about this, one old neighbor said the army practices maneuvers up there sometimes??

UFOBC Responds:

Hello,

Thank-you for your report. I cannot off the top of my head think of what you may have seen. I am hoping you can draw a picture of what you saw, and perhaps shed some more light on the sighting? For example, how tall was the structure?, and marking on it? Doors, windows or other openings? Also, I would very much like to know the area/location of the sighting, if you can provide it in any more detail.

Thank-you,
Richard, UFOBC

Witness replied: (Aug 24th 2008)

Hello, thanks for your reply, the object I say was about 10 miles west of Sooke near my house on Anderson Road, very remote area with mostly forest and logging roads, this was a logging clear area where it was, on Vancouver Island, BC. I estimate it was over 100 feet long and maybe 12-15 feet high. It appeared to be on stilts as it was off the ground, though I am unable to describe its "legs", if even indeed they were there. It had an almost inaudible sound, in fact when I first heard it I brought my friend's attention to the sound, it was such a low hum it almost felt like vibrations, more then audible. That's when we decided to investigate. I never forget that night, it was so weird, how did it get there, why were no people or vehicles around, and how did it disappear by early dawn morning and then leave not one mark in the soft earth, very perplexing.  As I said previously the scariest thing is when a light from the middle came bolting toward us at lighting speed to shine on our faces for a split second where we were hiding on a 30 foot thicket mound. So "it" knew we were there for sure, sensored for heat or movement I think. I fear what would have happened if we were unable to back out of there pronto. It did have many low brightness lights that were facing down, and what appeared as darkened windows all over, it looked extremely high tech. I would draw a picture but it would just look like a flat fat round edged "cigar". I saw this with a close friend, and still shiver at our close encounter....

1984 or 1985, Shawnigan Lake, BC:

Both of my sons have witnessed UFO sightings. My son, Michael, was coming home on his bike with his friend, Ryan.  He ran in the house, panting, with a look of horror on his face.  He said, “Mom, something like UFOs were following Ryan and me on our bikes.” He told me that the objects were hovering over them and following them. He had never seen anything like that before.  Ryan continued on his way home and after he got home, his mother called me.  She asked about what happened to the boys and added that she had never seen Ryan so scared.  Ryan said that they followed him all the way home. Ryan’s mother was even scared when she saw the look on her son’s face.  My husband and Ryan’s mother went out to see if they could see anything but they did not. The next day on the television it was reported there were sightings at about the same time. At that time, I realized that my son was telling the truth.  If you could have seen their faces, you would know that they were speaking the truth.

My other son, Luke, came home shortly after this time. He and his friend were walking home and a honeycomb-shaped UFO hovered above them. Luke said they could not move and honeycomb shapes were all over their skin.  He said it was as if they had been frozen for a period of time but that he could not be sure if they were or not. Luke and his friend were very scared.  Once again on the TV there were sightings reported so I knew Luke was telling the truth. This is the first time I have told anyone about both of my boys’ sightings. Thank you for letting me tell you what happened to my boys.

1984 or 1985, Vancouver, BC: (around 11:00 am)

Our whole class of second graders (8-year-olds) was gathered inside one of the portable classrooms that was detached from the main school building. Suddenly, in the middle of the lesson, someone looked out the window and said "Woah".

We could all begin to make out something hovering in the sky above the soccer field outside the window and we rushed to the window to see; all of us all at once, including the teacher. It was a military-looking aeroplane and it's wingspan stretched above the roof of our elementary school. Other than that, it seemed to be looming at a very close range. One of the students commented, "Looks like it could lay a coupla bombs on us". It was a good observation on her part as this was indeed how it appeared. This was a very strange encounter and I'm curious to know if anyone else from that class is still around to remember that incident. It could have just been a military plane doing military exercises but it seemed very odd that the plane was hovering so low over the school field. I have no other explanation for it. I would be interested in hearing from anyone on here who also witnessed it. Just post your story as I've done and I will read it with great interest. Thank you!

1986, Sparwood, BC : (Reported 01-June-2021)

I witnessed a UFO back in 1986 in Sparwood, British Columbia. Myself and a friend were outside a hotel at 10:00 pm having a cigarette, when all of a sudden there were these lights in the western sky. The shape of lights were kind of triangler. It was just above us for awhile, then it moved about a mile away in a flash. It was so fast. The weirdest thing is there was no noise. The object seemed large.

Summer 1986, Burnaby: (7:00 pm)

“I have a similar sighting around the same time as the sighting marked "Make a wish" 1986.....My mother and I were driving in our car at about 7:00 pm. We were leaving a shopping mall in Burnaby, BC and as we were driving out of the parking lot we looked up and noticed that a stainless steel colour circular object with white or yellow windows or lights at the base.  It was hovering quite low and it was very large. We drove directly underneath it and noticed no sound or movement. We watched it for about 1 minute then got scared and left the scene. We never heard of anyone else seeing the object but there must have been someone else in the area who could have. This was a busy shopping mall that didn't close until 9:00 pm that night so the parking lot was still partially full. If you hear of any similar sightings it would be great to hear back from someone.”

UFO*BC Responds:

Would you have an approximate or even an exact date for your sighting?

Witness Responds:

I don't know the exact date but I would guess it was close to summertime in 1986 - It was a very clear night with the sun just going down. The ufo was very, very low to the ground so we're not mistaking what we saw - I would guess it was less than 150 feet up and it looked huge. Sorry I can't give you an exact date but my mom and I were a little bit freaked so we left. I looked at it for about 1 minute and then drove underneath.

My mother's friend lives about 5 miles from the area in a high rise building - 20th floor...she saw a similar shaped object with lights travel past her window or balcony. Her and her husband watched it go by then disappear. That was around the same time as well.

Jan/Feb 1988, Dunn Lake, BC:

I came out of a white fog and was standing in the living room of the house I had been staying at and renovating. I could not recall anything previous to the moment of emerging from this fog stretching back to the Monday before. I turned on the radio to and found it was now Friday morning. I could not remember the most minute detail as if a chunk of my memory was erased. My mind felt like I had electroshock treatment (I am guessing as nothing like that has happened to me).

I had a post hypnotic suggestion that kept saying "I must have been here working". In thinking of this later it seems a strange thing to keep saying since where else would I have been? I looked at my surroundings; about a foot of icy snow on the ground. I inspected my truck and could see where I had returned from town the previous Sunday evening. I could also see that no one had driven in or out. So I had not left in my truck. My fridge was still full of the weeks' food I had purchased and nothing had been eaten. My  pile of fire wood by the entrance door was still there from the past Sunday evening so the house's wood stove had been off for at least 3 1/2 days yet despite the minus 10 night time temperatures (plus 2 or so in the day) the house was not frozen up. The temperature in the house was odd in that it was not warm but not cold either; I did not need to light a fire for a few more hours and I spent the intervening time investigating my "situation".

I was warm and dry, not hungry or thirsty so I had not been out in the snow covered elements. I looked at my progress of finishing the log house and no work had been done inside or at my small workshop outside since Monday morning. So no food eaten, no work done. I looked at my log book (day-timer) and it was curiously open to the correct date. I remember this as I only had to turn the pages backwards in time to see what I had written. This work log had been faithfully kept for each days' work (it was kept by me in order to honestly keep track of my time for the absent landlord). The past days were blank (previously I had never missed more than one day in recording my times). I could also see from my log book that everything work-wise was just as I had left it the previous Monday.

Since the (what I now call it) post hypnotic suggestion was saying "I must have been here working" over and over, I dutifully filled in the missing days with obviously fictitious work (since I had already determined that no work was done). Despite my confusion I filled this in quickly, taking no more than a few minutes. This was (is) extremely out of character for me as I care most about being honest and giving more work and charging less. I deeply care about my reputation and have always felt it is better to work an extra 1/2 hour to make sure I am giving a good proper deal. In fact this is the only time in my life that I can remember charging for time that I did not perform.

I could not reconcile this missing time and deciding that I must be bushed. I decided to take better care of myself (in spite of the fact of not remembering anything like this ever happening previously). So life went on and I went on. In August of that year (about seven months later) I had a dream and there I was on the fateful Monday. Somehow I immediately knew in my dream that it was that day exactly. I was working in my wood shop. Right in the middle of planing a board in the thickness planer, I thought that I must go over to the lake. I shut off the tool and walked the 30 feet over to the edge of the hill overlooking the lake. I looked up and there was an odd shaped hole in the bright overcast sky. It seemed that I was looking into the cosmos as if it was an opening or gateway into space. I was confused for a moment then I realized that I was seeing a UFO. I had a rush of excitement (very positive as this was amazing to me) when I got an electric shock instantly awaking me. The realization of seeing a UFO, the shock, and the being awake upright in bed all happened at the same time. I did not want to wake up and the shock was something external applied to me as if my dream was monitored. I immediately thought "Now I know what happened to me in those missing days; it was a UFO and it all made sense.

I have tried many times since that time to will another dream like that. The UFO dreams I have had all have silver discs and once the disc landed in front of me (in my dream) and I could see inside the front window. Sitting there (inside the disc) were about a dozen in total very attractive human men and women in silver suits. They were smiling at me and I could see all of them right up to their eyes (which I could not see). I assume something is different about their eyes. Most every time I have willed a dream, after the sighting  I am suddenly stumbling around after my dream disoriented (all in the dream).

I  am wanting to solve this mystery and have some regressive hypnosis although I have resisted doing this with just anyone. I would be interested in having a recommendation. I have never had any reaction to the grey alien type descriptions or drawings and it seems my experience is with another group (this is only my feeling and my dream memories. I know often people have a different memory after regression). My main concern is to find someone with experience in this field who will impartially explore this without inserting any preconceived thoughts or agenda.

Late Fall, 1989, Endako: (6:45 pm)  HBCC UFO

A husband and wife were driving from Endako back to Prince George, British Columbia where they lived. It was early evening and already dark out, they were approximately 8 kilometers east from Endako when the wife pointed out an unusual object which was flying low and parallel to their vehicle along Highway #16. The husband then slowed the vehicle down so he could get a better look at it. The object, whatever it was, made some quick movements, away from them and back again, also jerking forward and slowing down almost as if it was pacing the car. The object changed color a number of times, from a pale green, to red and then blue. There were no flashing lights on the object and the witnesses could not make out its shape due to the darkness of the night.

The witnesses claim the object stayed with them for a number of miles until they got to a bridge which crosses the Stellako River which is west from Fraser Lake. When the driver and passenger changed direction in their vehicle they lost sight of the object as it seemed to continue on its flight path straight east ward. The couple did pull over to the side of the road to see if they might be able to get a better look, but when they got out of the car the object had disappeared.

1989 or 1990  Sunshine Coast, Gibsons, Mt Elphinstone:

while sitting on a dead end old logging road, my friend and I heard light scratching noises on the vehicle I was driving. After a few moments of wondering what it was I observed in my rear view mirror a small, very bright, strobe, white clear light coming from the bush behind us. As this light became larger and closer I turned the car on and immediately drove down the mountain. My friend told me to stop and I did a distance away and looked out and up behind us was a bright green light that took off in a very smooth, fast ..no sound and disappeared behind Keats Island. I've always wondered about that night. I'm not sure if there was lost time! It did give me quite a scare. This happened 1989 or 1990.

Around 1989-1990, West Vancouver, BC: (02:00-03:00 am)

I was sleeping at home at my parent's house. I woke up and had the feeling someone was nearby. I lifted my head slightly to look over my feet towards the doorway. When I did I saw half of a whitish face, small in the chin, bigger at the head, 1 large black eye. When I reacted to this by sitting up more the head pulled back away from the doorway (like when someone is peeking at you with half their head looking at you). This had been preceded many years before by a friend of mine and me driving to Whistler and passing Britannia Beach then suddenly seeing "Welcome to Whistler" (over 45 minutes away). The tank was still full, and we looked at each other shocked. I don't know why but we did not talk about this thing for years.

Spring 1990, Vancouver, BC:

I was seven years old and visiting Vancouver for the very first time as my parents were planning on moving to the city from Saskatchewan. We were staying in the Four Season's Hotel, in downtown Vancouver. I was sleeping in between my parents in a king sized bed and woke up in the early morning to a small figure standing at the end of my bed, right below my feet in the dark. The figure was very short and skinny, I remember how tiny and fragile it looked. It has greyish pink smooth skin, although it was very dark, the figure looked illuminated slightly. It was almost glowing in a way. It had darkish eyes, but I could tell it was staring at me. I remember looking at it, startled but not afraid. I blinked and it sort of just vanished. For my entire life since, I have never seen anything like that again.

1990-91 , Taylor Pass, Fort St.John, BC:

We were coming home from Dawson Creek and we were driving on my dad's truck. It was late at night and I was getting tired. We were on this big metal bridge and this ball of light came down and crossed in front of us and went down by the river. I watched it follow the river around the bend and it was gone. There were people driving behind us and they saw it too. I was told not to speak of this again by my family. I am requesting that my name not be mentioned but if you could shed some light on it for me I would really appreciate it. The light wasn't big it was maybe three feet at the most and very bright white. We were maybe 20 feet away when it crossed in front of us. Please contact me if you have any more questions.

July/Aug 1991/1992, Westbank, BC:

My friend and I were coming across the floating bridge in Kelowna heading towards Westbank when we saw a brilliant glow over the mountain in front of rosevalley dam/lake.  We had no idea what it could be it looked as if there was a ski hill all lit up. We drove up the hill and the light was very very bright we got to the edge of the woods and all the woods were lit up. From where we sat the woods would be about 300 feet and then it's a very steep drop/cliff and straight down to the lake we didn't get out to check cause we just didn't know what the hell was going on. We sat there about 15 minutes then left to go to his parent's place for the night. Their house was just down the hill from there not very far at all. We were talking about what we saw and about ten minutes after getting to his house there was a red ball of light floating around the trees in the back yard. We were so freaked out we closed the curtains and sat on the couch with a shotgun each ready to go if needed. I have never seen anything like that before.

October 1991, 100 Mile House, BC:

"In October 1991, I was moving from North Vancouver to 100 Mile House, with my boyfriend. He was in one vehicle and I was in another with my 2 year old son, who was sleeping in the back in his car seat. It had gotten dark and I had lost track of my boyfriend so I drove on having had a plan that if we got separated, I would meet him at his grandmother's place in 100 Mile around 10:30 pm."

"I had gotten through the worst part of the Fraser Canyon and was going along a straight stretch of road. There was no cars on the road at this time, and it was pitch black other than my headlights. When I looked in my rear view mirror, I saw a very bright light behind me, it looked as if a vehicle had a burned out headlight, but it seemed much brighter than a regular car headlight, so I thought maybe it was a semi truck. When I looked again, whatever this was, was rising slowly in a vertical movement. At this point the only thing that came to my mind was a helicopter, but it was completely silent no noise whatsoever. By this time I began to feel a little panicked, so I pulled to the side of the road and looked behind me and whatever was there was gone."

"I had a very creepy feeling the rest of the way and it really frightened me, to this day I always wonder what it was."

1992, Vernon, BC: HBCC UFO

When I was 18 years old in 1992, I witnessed a blond/amber-coloured light coming down the Indian Arm of Okanagan Lake from the north to the south. The object was moving along the far SE shoreline approximately 5 km from the cabin. My sister and I both watched the object through the window of the cabin as it streaked straight up into the air and disappeared. We both felt confused after seeing it and have only discussed it once or twice since it happened.

1992, Prince George, BC: (evening) HBCC UFO

1992. I was walking down a very quiet street and I again saw the orange ball coming right towards me (see 7-July-1972). I looked up and saw the same thing that I had seen twenty years before. I was shocked and dumbfounded to see the same thing again. The orange ball once again disappeared. This time it scared the heck out of me. I was terrified, you figure it out.

March 1992, between Rutland and Beacerdell, BC: (evening)

First of all this experience was so long ago the date is extremely approximate. It has bothered me for a long time and having just found this site, I was eager to share my experience.  I used to travel regularly through Rutland on hwy 33 to Rock Creek and return as part of my job. One evening while returning towards Rutland from Rock Creek I encountered something very odd along a very desolate road. Traffic was near non-existent, but at one point I saw a very intense glow of light which appeared off in the distance. It didn't appear to be airborne, but rather on the ground and covering a large area. This was a winding section of this mountainous highway so the glow would occasionally be obstructed. I believed the light was coming from an area that I believed was uninhabited. I was so perplexed and was trying to comprehend what it was as I was approaching closer to the apparent source when suddenly and without warning I lost all power in my car. The engine died and every dash light illuminated. I had just enough time to panic when the dash lights went out and then just as suddenly I was again under full power! At this point I am very concerned, still wondering what the light is coming from but also suddenly concerned for my vehicle condition. Well maintained, fairly new and no history of problems and the situation never replicated itself. Pretty freaked out at this point and no way was I going to stop and try to figure out the light source. As I passed the general area of the light I would estimate the light was possibly a kilometre or two off road in what appeared to be heavy woods although I never actually saw it, just the glow. I was now beyond the light and watched in my rear view mirror until it was no longer in my field of vision. Trying to rationalize what it was and I couldn't. Thought maybe Ski hill night skiing but drove the highway many times and never saw it before or since.

29-Aug-1992, Burnaby, BC : (12:00 pm)

The sky was clear and as I gazed at the stars I noticed some disappear. Then I realized I could quite distinctly see a triangle shape moving slowly and quietly across the sky directly above me. My guess is that this was at a very high altitude or even outside the atmosphere, therefore the object would have to be quite large as it was the size of a full moon. I jumped up in startled disbelief and curiosity to get a better view and could no longer find the object in the dark night sky.

1993, Stave Lake, BC: (11:00 pm)

Re: Student Pilot and Instructor sight UFO over Stave Lake - Apr 29, 1982

I have experienced this exact same phenomen in the exact spot on the map listed but a few years later. My entire family was present. We're not UFO wierdo's but just normal people. I thought it was strange that someone else reported the exact same thing in the exact same spot but years earlier.

UFO*BC Responds:

Hi Jeffrey,

That is amazing! Would you have additional details like where you were and what you saw the object doing? Also would you have an approximate date for the sighting?

Sincerely,

UFO*BC Responds:

Hi Jeffrey,

I am also interested in those details. By some coincidence, I am doing a presentation tomorrow evening at the planetarium on UFOs, and one of the cases I am reviewing will be the Stave Lake case. It is a very strange coincidence that you should contact us concerning this case just as I am about to talk about it.

Was there anything else that happened at that time and what was it that compelled you to contact us or to visit our site?

Thanks,

Gord HeathUFOBC

Witness Responds:

It was 17 years ago. I grew up in the last house at the end of Sylvester Road in rural Mission BC. Sylvester Road is a long winding road that cuts through the valley north to south and the pavement ends where our house was and the logging service roads continue from there, steep gravel roads winding all up through that same area up to Stave Lake.

I was 11 years old and my brother and I were with my mom and dad driving home at about 11pm. My mom was an emergency room nurse and and was always on the evening shift so my little brother and I would always have to go with my father to pick her up when her shift ended. The route home was heading north on Sylvester Road towards home which looks straight into the Stave Lake mountains. That night was really clear and between the mountains near Stave Lake there was a large triangular object just hovering in the sky. I remember it was huge, much bigger than an airplane. It had so many bright lights around the triangular outline that it lit up sky. The lights were not common airplane lights or strobes. When we rolled down the windows and stopped the car it was very eerie. We had followed the object, it was not moving very fast, just kind of hovering around the mountains near Stave Lake. The oject was so large but it didn't make any noise. In fact there was almost no noise at all.

My mother and little brother were very scared and wanted to go home, but my Dad was really curious as was I. We followed it up the mountain service road 14 km. The strange thing was that these huge bright orange orbs were coming from the craft. They could not have been search flares because they were much bigger and were sort of floating. I saw one of the orbs travel back into the craft. Up near the 14 km mark of the mountain service road we stopped and my dad got out of the car to investigate. It was getting late, my mom was very scared, like more scared than she has been before and the craft had moved further up into the mountains and would be difficult to follow.

I will always remember the sheer size of the triangular craft. The very bring light and light patterns. The orange orbs/balls that came out of it and the one that travelled back into the craft. And the fact that the huge craft just sort of hovered, moved slowly and made no noise at all. My dad later contacted the Comox base to see if they were doing any strange rescue operations or if there were any crafts reported around that time but he was told there were no operations at that time anywhere even close.

As a family that event kind of moved into the past. We never told any newspapers or anything like that.

I decided to email because I was on Youtube just browsing around at videos. It made me think of how many more digital cameras and video recorders there are in everyones purses and on every bodies cell phones and how it would have been great if we could have captured that night on video.

That made me google UFO incidents and I read about that Stave Lake sighting in 1982. It sent instant goose bumps on my skin and made the hair stand up at the back of my neck. The was the exact location I had been at. Even though the previous guy said his objects appeard to be garbage can lid shaped and connected with strings, I thought that the way the orange orbs behaved in my experience the physiccal movements of the orange orbs seemed very similar to something being towed or connect by a device or rope or something.

I grew up in that area and that night sent real fear and wonder into me. I've had my newborn baby daughter in the Langley emergency room twice and have been scared. But that night was a different kind of fear. It was the kind of fear that sends shivers up your back but makes you want to keep going.

I'm not obsessed with UFO's or crazy. Just a normal guy from Mission

Summer, 1994, Deep Cove, BC:

This sighting happened to me when I was six years old, living in Deep Cove, North Vancouver. It was summertime and I was playing in my front yard. It was a very clear, blue-sky day, the kind where the only clouds are the wispy, few and far-between ones. I looked up and saw a craft in the sky. It was very dark and matte, almost black but not quite, more charcoal coloured. It was saucer shaped, with a disc/saucer on the bottom and the top part domed. Coming out of the bottom were two mechanical "arms".

Because of how young I was when I saw this, the memory of what was on the ends of each arm has faded, but I remember one had a mechanical "hand" like end, very simplistic-looking though, not structured like a human hand. I can't remember clearly what was on the end of the other arm - something in my mind niggles at me to say something like scissors, but I can't be positive...

Besides that one arm, my memory of this UFO is incredibly clear - one of those memories that is seared into your mind for the rest of your life. There were hundreds of windows on the craft - some were white, some yellow, some red. There were empty spaces between these windows which were all over the craft in a fairly even grid, so these may have been lights that were "off". Judging by the number of windows on the craft and the scale of them compared to the craft, this thing was HUGE, but very far away from the surface, at least as high if not much higher than commercial aircraft would fly (my estimation skills are sadly lacking!). But it was stationary in the sky, and it was as clear to see as watching an airplane fly overhead and being able to see the windows, and being able to tell whether it had a blue stripe or a green stripe - there was no mistaking what this was for ANYTHING else.

I stared at it for a few moments, but I think being that age it was the mechanical appendages that really scared me - I imagined that it might suddenly come down and grab me, so I ran inside and told my mom. My grandma, uncle and various people my mom knows and trusts have had UFO sightings over many years so she had no doubt that I was telling the truth about this. She didn't rush outside to look for it, but when she did eventually look outside (a few minutes later) it was gone.

Around 16 years later, this memory still comes back to me from time to time, and every once in a while I wonder if I'll look up at the sky and see this UFO again, or something like it.

Summer 1994, 100 Mile House, BC: (11 pm)

Back in the summer of 94, my gf and I were travelling from Vancouver to Prince George to visit family. It was late at night around 11pm. We were in my little sports car heading up a long straight hill just north of 100 Mile House B.C. You could see the deep blue sky with no clouds at all and lots of stars. We remember the tall pine trees parting the highway on either side of the road as we drove up a long straight hill with a bright moon out. Then we noticed a dark object far in front of us which seamed to hover over the highway. Finally I said to my gf, "Are you seeing what I'm seeing?" There were no lights anywhere, no other vehicles on the highway, just this massive black oval shape hanging just a few hundred feet above the highway. I remember getting the chills like hair standing up on my skin feeling. I mean, this was unexplainable?? As we continued down the highway it became darker, the objects oval edge was sharply distinctive against the clear sky. We could still see a small bit of sky only very low far down the highway. I remember we tried getting a good look at it, but It was just Blackness, my headlights didn't even seem as bright as they should be. We drove under this thing for a few minutes under a blackness that blotted out the entire sky. I began driving extremely fast I think up to 180kmh to get as far away from this thing as we could. Looking back the dark object still stationary with dark edges in the clear night sky. Estimated size of this object was at least a mile in diameter based on the speed we were traveling while under it's darkness.

Based everything I know of science and nature there is no definitive explanation of this event???

Summer, 1994, Kewlona, BC:

Hello, I am watching Discovery Science (SCI), The "Corina Saebels" story, in 1991. At the time I was living in a mobile home trailer park in Lakeview Heights at the foot of Boucherie Mountain, in Kelowna, BC. It was the middle of summer in 1994, late in the morning, maybe 3:00 am ish. I was sitting on my front lawn enjoying the night sky. I was looking toward Westbank, it was a completely clear, starry sky night. When I noticed 3 bright stars over the Westbank Mountains. I had never noticed them before. The 3 stars where brighter than anything around them and stood out quite convincingly. The 3 stars formed a perfect triangle, which I thought was quite interesting. As I watched, all 3 stars started to move as one complete unit . . . a giant star triangle with nothing but the black night sky inside of the triangle. The triangle move up and down and then side to side as if one complete entity. It was amazing! I was fascinated. I watched for several minutes. Then to my astonishment, the 3 stars suddenly broke apart from the perfect triangle image and each shuddered violently, and zoomed off in 3 separate directions, at an incredible speed. Only to completely disappear! I have no idea what I saw that night, however this TV episode jogged my memory! Have you had anyone else send you anything like my description? The whole incident has confirmed to me that we are not alone!

Mid-1990s, Westbank, BC: HBCC UFO:

Thank you to: Chris Rutkowski Ufology Research of Manitoba

My name is (name deleted) and I would like to report to you personally about a most unusual sighting I have had in Westbank, B.C., about eight years ago. I have watched many TV programs about U.F.O., sightings etc., but I have never heard or seen anything like the sighting which I had one evening while doing some astronomical observing. I had turned away from my telescope for a few moments to rest my eyes when I saw a beautiful round wine coloured object coming almost directly towards me.

This object was about 2/3 the size of the our moon and somehow I got the impression that not only did it appear perfectly circular, but also globular in shape. To understand what happened next, I need to explain that my location was sloping upwards, so that I was above some buildings about thirty meters in front of me, behind which the object disappeared from my view and at which time the object could not have been more than ten meters above the ground, I then realized that the object was roughly the size of a soccer ball. I kept watching for this same object to re-appear when to my amazement there suddenly appeared four large rings equal in size and forming like a square (touching each other). Within each ring there were three smaller rings and each ring appeared to be equal distance from each other with the innermost ring being the smaller of the four.

The object as a whole was rotating clockwise and moving from North to South, however each of the three smaller rings within the large rings were rotating in the opposite direction to each other, some clockwise and some anti-clockwise. I believe this object was rather close as it appeared quite large, about ten degrees of arc and coloured like the moon (when it's low to the horizon). I am sorry to say I was so busy trying to think "What can it be, what can it be" that I never thought of watching to see if any stars were visible as the object passed in front of them, as this would have let me know if the object as a whole was solid or if there was space between the rings. I watched it for about fifteen seconds as it moved slowly across the sky, slowly getting dimmer until it finally disappeared from view over Okanagan Lake. I would appreciate it if you would let me know by replying to this e-mail, if you have ever heard of any similar sightings to mine and please feel free to speculate as to what you think it may possibly have been.

Mid 1990's, Kelowna, BC: (around 4 pm)

I am not exactly sure of the date, I could find out from the building that I was working on.

I was coming home from work at the RBC in Westbank heading north towards Kelowna on HWY97 in the Mount Boucherie Road area. It was in the fall so the Sun was low in the sky, it was also fairly clear weather. On the horizon to the north of Kelowna I saw an amazing light streak across the sky parallel with the horizon. The best way I can describe it is white and with a multi colour effect changing colour as it traveled. It was going at an amazing rate of speed right across the visible horizon. I have seen many meteorites and falling stars, this was different it went parallel with the horizon and did not burn out. I was also an Air Cadet  and have an interest in Aviation, I know how different aircraft look at speed including fighters, nothing is as fast as what I saw. The area it flew from was (this is a guess) from the Beaver Lake area of Winfield west towards the coast. I asked a co employee who was behind me in traffic the next day if he saw anything. He kind of gave me a funny look and told me what he sa, it was the same thing. I can not explain what we saw, but I thought I would share it with you.

Summer 1993, Maple Ridge, BC:

In the summer of 1993 i had just completed a large deck on the back of my house. My house was on 5 acres with my nearest neighbours being hidden by tall trees. I lived in the Whonnock area of Maple Ridge. My wife was out that night so I was alone. When i went out on the deck in the dark to look at the night sky I saw a triangular shaped craft, black with 3 different coloured lights on each point. One point had blue, next green and third white or yellow. The trees around my house were about 120 feet tall so I would estimate the craft was about 200 to 250 feet above the house. So the dimensions would be 70 feet x 70 feet x 70 feet. There was absolutely no sound as it was just slowly cruising from east to west. I remember feeling quite calm as it passed over and told my wife when she got home but she dismissed it as being nonsense so I told nobody else.

Summer of 1994, Rosswood, BC: (about 9 am) HBCC UFO

My English, typing and communication are not good, but I and other witnesses have seen, over ten or so years in Rosswood, B.C., daytime and nighttime, magnesium-like green, white and red lights, moving steady or looking like odd stars but lower than the mountain tops. Some are five miles away, some are closer.

I am 52 and I never seen anything like it. It all started in 1994, in summer before school was out. I bought property in Rosswood. One morning around 9:00 a.m. the kids were gone to school when I looked through the bedroom window and saw a fair-size star  coming out of one valley 5 miles away and below the mountain top. It got close, slowly then fast, stopped, repeat - stopped, and came 45 degrees towards me. I had my head out of the window by then; there was no sound.  It stopped then reversed back off toward the Nass and all this within one and a half minutes or so. It was not a chopper but a bright magnesium star-type object. There were no other witnesses.  This was the first time.  I remember this because 3 or 4 years later my ex, my daughter and I saw, before sunset, the same star, at a low regular speed going inside the same valley. I will tell you about that some other time. It was not an airplane, chopper or balloons. I will stop now and tell you about the next sighting next time.

Summer, 1994, Deep Cove, BC:

This siting happened to me when I was six years old, living in Deep Cove, North Vancouver.

2nd Week Oct-1994, Delta, BC:

A workmate and I were doing a repair that ran into the late afternoon. We finished up the repair in downtown Vancouver around 6.15pm. We were both in separate vehicles, and we headed up Oak Street to make our way out to Highway 99  My mate lived out in White Rock and I lived in Cedar Hills, Surrey.

When I got to the 17 Overpass Exit in Ladner, for River Road, we parted ways as he continued on to White Rock.

It was a beautiful clear and cool evening. I drove down to the long corner and made the gentle sweeping turn to where Highway 17 parallels the Fraser River and becomes River Road.

I was driving down the road for another 3 minutes and made it to the Vito Shipyard.

There were cars ahead of me. Maybe 3 to 4 cars and we were separated by 10 to 15 car lengths.  I noticed their brake lights coming on so, naturally, I applied my brakes. They all came to a slow stop. And there was no traffic jam. I wondered what was going on? As I looked ahead, a light became apparent to me from the Southeast over some power lines. It was fairly big. Probably the equivalent to 4 to 5 City Transit Buses, in length, and 2 to 3 building stories at its height. It was big.

This light became a silver metallic image and it began to change colors. Red, Green, and Blue over a Metallic Silver shape. It looked just like those sketches of UFO's we've all seen before. There were no windows but the light just seemed to blend into the silver.

Immediately, I thought this was a UFO. Unquestionably. There were no propellers, or any time of propulsion systems that would make it compatible with current jet systems available.  (Hawker Siddley Harrier Jumpjets - VTOL.)

I put my Service Vehicle in Park, shut the engine off, and I got out. As I stood there, I could hear something. A low frequency. A vibration. My skin could feel something. It was like I was in between a magnetic field.

I looked over  to the vehicles in front of me, but I didn't notice anybody else getting out of their vehicles.  I looked behind me and I saw another car behind me pull over.

I think I watched this silver metallic object, with the changing color patterns, for maybe a minute and then it began to move towards the Alex Fraser Bridge/Burns Bog/88th Street Interchange.

It's at this point, the object began to accelerate. It's acceleration rate was linear and exponential. I have seen some fast planes but none of those jets could move at this speed. From my vantage point, it looked like it accelerated hard towards South Surrey and then it just accelerated directly straight upwards until I lost sight of it.  I would estimate Mach 5 to 6. That kind of speed, but absolutely No Noise.  Nothing.  From it's point of acceleration to moving towards Mud Bay and then its trajectory to the high altitude, where I lost sight of it, was maybe 5 to 6 seconds.

All I could think of was the G Forces on that kind of acceleration and the amount of thrust required to give it that kind of lift to that altitude where it disappeared

Anyways, we all got back in our cars and went home.

I called my workmate and told him as I drove home.  (No Cellphone Laws then.  LoL)

When I got home, I told my wife, of my adventure.

The following day, my workmate called me and told me there were people on CFOX FM 99.3 talking about the incident. Some people witnessed it as they were on the Alex Fraser Bridge.  However, they weren't right up close to it as I was, along with maybe a handful of other cars on River Road. My distance from it was somewhere in the neighborhood of 500 feet, and it was maybe 200 feet above the ground.

Whatever happened that night, I will never forget it and I still talk about it from time to time when people talk about 'strange lights' in the sky.

I would like to think those people who were in their cars along River Road will someday be able to explain this sighting as I have. At least corroborate it.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Thank you,

David

Fall of 1994, Sulphurous Lake, BC:

I was 11 years old and playing in the back yard of my childhood home, located along the north side of sulphurous lake. I remember I swung off our rope swing, landed and turned to go back up the hill. All of a sudden it was like a strange calm came over and there was no sound at all. I looked up to the tree line and I saw a huge oval shaped "UFO" it was moving east to west fairly slowly maybe 20 yards over the tree tops. The Ufo I would estimate it to be the size of a soccer field in length. I was paralyzed just in shock being that age and seeing this thing right in front of me. The craft had no visible windows or seams on it, it appeared to be seamless with no visible moving parts silver grey in colour. I saw the thing for only a few seconds it has been in my mind ever since. I went to elementary school at horse lake elementary school, I had mentioned what I saw to a few kids in my class most of them thought I was crazy or making up a story. One of the kids in my school had witnessed something that looked the same around the same time in the same area (I sent him a fb request, and plan on asking him if he remembers what he saw).

1998-1999 around Christmas time Langley BC (willowbrook mall parking lot) My father and I were just leaving the mall after some Christmas shopping, it was just getting dark out so evening time. My dad had looked up in the sky and said "wow, look at the moon" I looked up and saw a glowing ball in the sky slightly west of our location. I said to my dad "that's not the moon" the ball I'm not sure how far away but it seamed to be pretty high up, started changing colours from a grey blue to green and then orange to red, it was kind of gyrating around kind of wobbling around that one spot in the sky for maybe 20-30 seconds then the orange changed to red, the thing broke up into maybe 7-10 smaller red balls and shot off in pieces to the north so fast it was just a blur. My dad and I both shocked at what we had just seen asked some people in the parking lot if they had seen it and they just sort of looked at us as if we were crazy. The ball/orb looked to be about half the size of what the moon would look like maybe a bit larger. My dad and I were swimming at wc Blair pool in Langley a few days later, my dad was in the steam room talking about what he saw and there was a man there had seen the same thing on the same night, my dad had come calling for me in the pool to come talk with the man. The man from the pool had described the same thing as what we saw that night. I've often wondered what I saw that night trying to make sense of it. I know back in those days China beach night club had a spot light they use to use often, but I have seen that light and I know that what we saw was not a spot light.

2011 July 15 10:00 pm to midnight Chilliwack mountian 1km past chilliwack lake campground on Chilliwack mountian road. My girlfriend's sister and some of her friends were camping out at the lake for a few days, we were living in Sardis so we had gone up to visit them one one night, we stayed out there till maybe 11pm before driving back into town. When we left that night, driving back towards Chilliwack near thurston meadows we saw a light flash over the top of our car and our car radio went fuzzy for a split second. It was only a split second that we saw the light. Around that time we had seen a lot of army activities in the area. I had witnessed on more than one occasion army personnel on that road and up in those mountains with armoured vehicles and these guys were packing some heavy weapons with them. My girlfriend and I were talking to our friend in Chilliwack the next day, we figured that they were up to something out there, so we decided to go out to the mountain that night. We had posted up alongside the mountain road laying down blankets and looking up. It was a clear night with not a cloud in the sky. We sat there for some time not seeing much a couple of satellites passed by, that was about it.

My friend looked up and spotted the first one, it looked about the size of a star and about the same brightness as an average star, not as big and bright as a satellite. The ball moved north to south then spun around in a circle a couple of times and headed east, it would travel 30-45 degrees across the sky spinning in a couple circles and then take off in a right angle to its last trajectory sometimes speeding up and then slowing down. Then another one of these balls came into view and another one and so on. We counted at least five different balls in the sky at the same time that night and the three of us had watched them fly around the sky for two hours. Mostly flying the same way as the first one, going in one direction then spinning a couple circles and turning at a right angle, but not always the same. I had seen one going across the sky almost like it was a bouncy ball bouncing along an imaginary line in the sky. All of these balls were very high in the sky. They would go fast and then slow down then speed up again, it was almost as if they were playing a game or in battle or something. We were all freaking out saying "What the heck is that? What are those things?" after about two hours they had all disappeared. My friend and I both tried to take pics but I only had my old razor phone and he had his old Nokia flip phone, the balls were too far away to get a pic without a good quality camera. We had returned to the same area the next night with my girlfriends whole family and didn't see anything. I have no explanation for what we saw that night.
