Monday, August 9th, Reeve Schou and other
passengers on the steamer Rithet plying the
waters of the Strait of Georgia, saw what
appeared to be a very bright red "star"
surrounded by a luminous, cigar-shaped, halo.
The thing moved slowly, maintaining a constant
altitude above the water and: ". . .
occasionally there seemed to drop from the
bright red star a shower of sparks . . . " (47.)
