On January 31, the grade 4 class of the Oliver
Elementary School sighted four unidentified flying
objects over Fairview in a south-east direction.
The teacher, somewhat provoked by the current of
whispering sweeping through the class, was quickly
informed of the cause of the excitement when a boy
exclaimed, “They’re flying saucers.”
The class was directed to go to
the windows for a better view. The four
brilliant silver craft seemed to have no
conventional flight formation. One object was
some distance ahead of the two following craft
which in turn were followed by the fourth
object. Cruising seemed to be the best word with
which to describe the leisurely flight of the
objects.
After illustrating their
impressions on the blackboard the entire class
agreed the wingless, disc-shaped objects were
slightly elongated in shape, with a definite
tail structure of some kind. If these craft
should prove to be other than UFOs, it will be a
great disappointment for 23 pupils and one
teacher.
