Wild Beach Party

Richmond, BC - May 28, 1965

Phenomena, Vol. 1, No. 1, 1968

In reply to your query about UFOs in this area, may I say that in the several years that I have been interested in them, I have never observed one. That is until Friday, May 28, 1965. I was attending a beach party and noticed a large glowing disc in the sky, travelling at a considerable speed from south to north over the Delta area. I pointed and yelled “shooting star”, to attract attention to the object. Several people can verify the sighting, and they all agreed with me that it was not a shooting star.

The basis for our reasoning is this:

1. It was travelling too fast.
2. Although very high (just a guess), it was quite large, approximately the size of several Boeing 707’s at perhaps 5000’ in a tight cluster.
3. Completely noiseless.
4. Followed an erratic zig-zag course somewhere over Vancouver Airport.
5. Very bright light yellow glow.
6. It made a sharp right hand turn over the city, and proceeded from UBC to Burnaby or Port Coquitlam.
7. It hovered over B or PC for several minutes, the light glowing.
8. The light went out while it was hovering, and reappeared periodically.
9. After hovering, it returned over the city very low (1000’?) at a great speed and disappeared.
10. It happened between 11:15 and 11:45 p.m. and lasted perhaps 15 to 20 minutes.

I would appreciate a verification of this sighting if any have been received.
