Dear Sir,
Having read the article in
January edition of True magazine by Maj.
Donald E. Keyhoe, I am writing for
additional information in this respect.
I am deeply interested in the
subject of U.F.O. sightings. I should go on
to explain that the reason for my interest
stems from what I consider a personal
sighting in the winter of 1959-1960.
As I was in high school at
the time I reported what I saw to my
principal and felt that my duty was done. I
was between fourteen and fifteen years old
and living in Chetwynd, British Columbia.
The sighting took place at 10
p.m. from the front porch of my parents'
home.
May I pause to say that I
have been raised in the bush and have found
no cause to fear it or anything that lives
in it by day or night.
The object of my sighting was
a large glowing object (greenish), situated
on a hill about 3 to 4 hundred yards away. I
tried to focus my eyes on the light and to
comprehend just what it was.
I stared at it for about 30
seconds to a minute. It then flew away at a
great rate of speed accompanied by a
whistling sound.
The whole thing lasted very
briefly but has remained vivid in my mind
because of the mortal fear that it struck
into me at the time.
It seemed to me that this
thing had been sitting there watching us as
we might watch animals in a zoo.
I feel that there have been a
great many U.F.O. sightings that have never
been reported.
This last article in True
magazine tends to make me believe that
perhaps if people can forget their ridicule
for the unknown, we may be at the threshold
of a far greater discovery than heretofore
known to science and mankind.
I believe the way to solve a
mystery such as this is through the unity
and complete honesty of those concerned, in
this and other countries.
Sincerely
T. Stabberfield
