Vancouver, B.C.
Incidentally, I too, have sighted Flying
Saucers - though they looked more like
mammoth-sized dinner plates to me - each
appeared to be at least half the size of the
dome on the Chalmers Church, 12th Ave. There
were two in the UBC area.
The time was around 4:00 p.m.
in December 1959. The day had been bright
with sunshine but it was now immediately
before dusk. The skies were clear and there
was a touch of frost in the air.
These Saucers were
silvertoned. They appeared to be having the
gayest time flitting up and down and over
and under so speedily and yet in such close
proximity to one another as if playing Tag.
Once one turned fully around
and in doing so it looked like a huge Jelly
Fish - so flexible in undulating movement -
the reflection of the light and darker skies
on presumably its metallic surface causing
this effect. And at one point in its turning
it wasn't visible for an instant - where it
was "thinner-through" like a saucer.
Finally and after about five
minutes they took off at their
characteristic terrific speed in a
south-easterly direction and disappeared in
a dark cloud. Lastly, ‘tis true, seeing is
believing. But once one has seen, nothing on
earth will change one’s mind . . . and it is
a privilege and most gratifying experience
to have sighted such phenomenal objects as
Flying Saucers.
