Oliver is getting full
attention from the "people" who drive those
flying saucers.
The latest report of a
sighting comes from Mrs. Mabel Ferguson, who
reports she saw a "saucer" appear in the
East, divide into two parts which
immediately united again, and then proceeded
southwards.
The phenomenon happened early
last Saturday morning. (24 Oct, 1959)
Several weeks earlier, Dick
Lloyd, who lives in the Acre Lots area, said
he was working in his garden shortly before
noon when his attention was drawn to a
humming sound. He saw a circular or oval
shaped whitish object moving across the sky
at high speed.
Several other residents,
including Mrs. J.H. Johnston, confirmed the
same appearance.
Mrs. Ferguson, Mr. Lloyd and
Mrs. Johnston all hesitated to report their
experience for fear of ridicule, but all are
certain the "saucer" appeared.
Mrs. Ferguson was laying
awake about 2 a.m. Saturday morning when she
saw a bright object to the east which
"looked like the sun was shining" and which
seemed to divide in two, then unite again.
She said it didn't appear too
large and may have been only a few hundred
feet away, but that it was very bright,
almost like aluminum foil reflecting light.
Mrs. Ferguson first thought
it to be a falling star but when it stood
stationary, divided, united again and then
"took off like a rocket" she knew it
couldn't be.
