Messenger From Mars?

Penticton, B.C. - October 16, 1958

Penticton Herald - October 18, 1958

Just after dawn Thursday morning M. R. Hardy, 450 Scott Avenue, observed what looked like a comet with a long, brightly shining tail knifing through the sky in the north-east right above the ridge of hills. According to Mr. Hardy, the flashing phenomenon was in sight for at least 30 minutes, travelling in a southerly direction. A check with the airport people yesterday failed to produce any details on it. It may be that the outer-space types are getting a bit put off with all the rocket activity emanating from earth and have decided to send a few orbiting contraptions our way.
