1999 Canadian UFO Opinion Poll
British Columbia and Yukon Results
From National Poll organized by Ufology Research of Manitoba
On August 14, 1999 UFO Researchers across the country conducted an opinion poll on unidentified flying objects and related questions. The project was initiated by Ufology Research of Manitoba and was intended to be representative of Canada. However, the number of people polled fell significantly short of the desired total of 600 to obtain the desired accuracy of +-4%, 19 times out of 20.
Nevertheless, researchers from UFO*BC and the Yukon have posted the results from their portion of the poll. With the lower numbers, the margin of error is greater than 4% but the results are still useful. The actual margins of error (19 times out of 20) and results is shown below:
BC Results: 100 people polled, margin of error = +-9.8%
Yukon Results: 112 people polled, margin of error = +-9.3%
BC and Yukon Results combined: 212 people polled, margin of error = +-6.7%
For comparison if there were:
384 people polled: margin of error = +-5.0%
601 people polled: margin of error = +-4.0%
1068 people polled margin of error = +-3.0%
2401 people polled margin of error = +-2.0%
