UFO SIGHTING REPORTS FROM 2026

     19-Feb-2026, Burnaby, BC: (7 pm)

I was out walking my dog near a park across the street from BCIT around 7pm tonight. I looked at the Moon and suddenly saw a white vertical beam of light with a small white light in the middle. I thought it was some kind of optical effect from moonlight or from clouds but there were no clouds. It started moving towards my direction. I let out a loud "Whoa!!" as I watched it come closer. I covered the light from a streetlight across the street with my hand so I could see better. That's when I noticed it was now 2 small white lights spaced apart moving together and I got the sense that they were attached to something. I watched it until they vanished into thin air. I've lived in Burnaby for 26 years and have seen almost 20 UFOs. I was creeped out by this one.

19-Feb-2026, Lions Bay, BC: (7:06 pm)

Wondering what this is…
Plane, drone, helicopter etc seemed unlikely. No flashing lights.
Video taken around 7pm.

Additional Witness Information:

Looks like it was part of the Falcon launch today. Makes sense as to what I saw. Plumage was created by off-gassing, tank purge, gas venting, alt control, etc,

Hi UFOBC,

I was pleased to find two other February 19th reports on your site of the same phenomena that I saw. I believe my sighting was a clearer observation than the information that I am getting from the Lion's Bay and Burnaby sightings. Due to the remote, dark location of my sighting and its geographical distance from the Vancouver area sightings it will help with identification characteristics. I have attached a sketch.

 - I had just anchored my sailboat in the Copeland Island group (fifteen nautical miles north of Powell River) at 18:55 PST on Thursday February 19th 2026. The moon was no longer visible and I had been enjoying observing stars in the dark, night sky - it was a clear night with crisp visibility. The ufo appeared at approximately 35 degrees above the horizon, viewed bearing 280 degree True (just north of west), and traveling with a steady speed and course towards south-east.

 - Earlier, sailing north in the dark, I had had two float planes and a helicopter fly past me at the usual speed and elevation that you would expect to see them, with one of them displaying a landing light when it was head on to me - the ufo's center light  seemed to have slightly less brightness in my recall.

 - Without having a scale reference of the unknown object/lights I was unable to estimate its distance from me, nor its speed. It occurred to me that the ufo was making its way across the sky at the same rate as either a smaller float-plane not too far away, or, a fast passenger jet at their higher altitude - I would estimate that I was watching it for about 40-50 seconds as it crossed a horizontal arc of sky of about eighty degrees. It seemed to be heading in a south-easterly direction towards Vancouver.

 - It was a startling sight as I had never seen anything like it - I have worked forty years as a professional and recreational mariner on all three of Canada's oceans. It first drew my attention due to its size

  - judged by coverage of the sky it was about two to three moon diameters. It was a white light (brighter than the planets but lesser than a plane landing light), within a much larger haze-sphere surrounding it. The central largish light-center had a distinct, white, narrow cone of light extend vertically up and down to the edges of the light sphere/haze. The central light was perhaps a quarter to third moon diameter - much too large to be a normal airplane light. The light sphere/haze had the luminosity  that I would expect the central light to project if it were in cloud - however there was no haze on this crystal clear night.  I next noticed that further ahead in its horizontal direction of travel was a set of three much smaller points of white light. These lights were on a slight diagonal vertically above each other in a tight cluster, and yet well above the line of travel of the larger light sphere, and about a sphere diameter ahead. They could barely be discerned as separate points of light without the seven times multiplication of 7x50 marine binoculars. These smaller lights were in lockstep movement with the sphere, and yet I could not discern a physical fuselage or craft-shape joining the smaller lights with the larger sphere. All of the lights observed were white and fixed ie. there were no flashing lights (which all planes have). There was no sound, and it faded to a star's brightness in the direction of Vancouver.  It did not respond when I flashed a bright light at it.

There was a mention that it may have been an artifact of the space rocket launch that evening. However, my research indicates the rocket launch and recovery occurred ninety minutes earlier, and was to the east - the opposite direction.  If the ufo was in low orbit then its scale was tremendous. How could the Lion's Bay and Burnaby sighting both have occurred 'about' 7pm and yet my sighting was also about 7pm whilst seventy-five miles north? Either we were looking at different objects with a similar description, or, we were looking at the same object far, far away - as in orbit. My wife joined me on deck and we had long enough to trade the binoculars a couple of times as it went by - she confirms my own observations above.  I have no sense of what I was looking at - in almost four weeks since then I could not make a guess.

Thanks for reading!

UFO*BC Responds:

Hello Andy,

Thank-you for the report and for the phone call (I have been trying to reach you for the last week but TELUS always claims there was an error when trying to connect to your number - hoping you aren't having phone issues?).

The image below is from https://satellitemap.space/

You can enter any satellite and see where it was at any point in time. The highlighted one below is a member of the StarLink cluster.

The direction, time and speed matches it perfectly.

However, as others have noted part of the cargo ship itself was in-line with the same flightpath:

The size and dimension does also corroborate your 2-3 moon ratio:

So on the balance of probability, it was still a rare sight, but one that we can blame on SpaceX.

Thanks again for the call and the email!!

Do keep in touch,
Richard

2-Mar-2026, Mission, BC: (5 pm)

Mission bc March 2 2026 around 5 pm towards Dewdney Trunk and Cedar, possible large drone. My point of view is north from 7th Ave. It hovered for at least a minute then moved to the left then hovered for another minute then came towards me and seemed to change direction from west to east slightly. Then it flew over the house towards Abbotsford. The lights were red and blue. Seemed like it was at least 4 to 6 feet wide. I have a parrot AR2 and this was way way larger.

    UFO*BC Responds:

Thank you very much for your report and for getting it to us so soon after the sighting.

You mention the estimated size of the object and that it had red and blue lights - were you able to see any of the body of the craft itself? How were the lights behaving - flashing etc?

You've provided a lot of important details already. We do have a few more standard questions for you to help us better understand and document what you saw. We would appreciate if you could please provide more information on the following:
    • Speed of Object(s)
    • Duration of Sighting
    • How the Sighting Ended
    • Number of object(s)
    • Description of Object(s)
    • Apparent altitude of Object(s)
    • Sounds (if any)
    • Any other details?

Thank you again for your report.

    Witness Responds:
My back patio faces north. I'm at Hurd and 7th Avenue approximately. I always watch jets going and coming to YVR and local air traffic like the white trainer going by almost daily. So I'm used to seeing objects in the distance. This one caught my eye as it was moving in a straight line and then hovering. This is the first time ever seeing this, we have been here since 2014.

Well it lasted about 3 or 4 minutes, I wish I grabbed my camera but I didn't want to miss it. The lights were not blinking I only noticed the lights once it got closer and flew towards Abbotsford parallel to Wren Street at about 100 feet.

I first noticed it in the distance placing it somewhere over the beginning of Cedar and Dewdney Trunk but it might have been further back. It was a black object against the sky. It had to be around 300 to 400 feet up. I saw a plane fly what looked like slightly above it. It was hovering for like 60 sec then it moved and I caught it, started watching it. It moved to the left in straight line then stopped. It hovered there for about 15 sec then it seemed like it was projected something, it seemed it had an arm or something dangling, maybe 8 feet.

Then it moved to the left and hovered and then it came towards me on 7th but was still back behind the ballpark when it went to the left 100 feet then to the right about the same in a line, then it came towards me at 7th and Hurd. It was over the school or Wren Street and I thought it was a drone as it did not make a lot of noise. It was about 80 to 100 feet when it flew over. That is when I noticed the lights.

It seemed to travel fairly fast, at least 50 mph I thought it may have had a black and white shaped body but it went over fairly quickly to my left. Just the one drone or UFO. it gave me the impression it was bigger than my own drone by a lot!  I would say it was at least 4 to 6 feet long. It went towards Abbotsford I didn't go around the front to follow it, as I thought it was a police drone?  I'm not really sure what it was but it didn't make much noise but I'm hard of hearing.. anyway, I will look again tomorrow.

UFO*BC Responds:

Thank you again for providing more information about your sighting. We discussed your report at our meeting this week. My colleague mentioned that Abbotsford Police do operate a drone similar to your description:

https://www.abbypd.ca/files/File/New%20Releases/2018/080718%20drone%202018%20media%20release%20w%20quote%20(2).pdf

police drone

The dimensions listed here are a little smaller than what you described:

Does this look like it could be what you saw?

We will be listing your sighting report on our website.

Thank you,

Holly
