UFO
SIGHTING REPORTS FROM 2018
UPDATED - August
22nd, 2020
7-Jan-2018,
Vancouver, BC: (11:43 pm)
East 6th and Rupert Street, East Vancouver, Saturday,
January. 7th 2018 11:43pm
After
dinner and a movie with friends, I began my walk home.
As I approached the corner of Rupert street from East
6th, I noticed a very bright blueish white light. As I
watched, it remained stationary. The light suddenly
began to shine brighter than any airplane or jet ever
could before quickly fading. A few seconds later it
appeared again as a very bright crimson red glowing
orb. It would disappear and reappear at random in
different spots. Then the light shone steady and began
shooting to random far off spots at very high speeds
in an extremely steady and random manner. After a few
moments the red orb began flying in a figure eight
pattern before flying back in my direction and
vanishing overhead. The whole experience lasted about
3 minutes.
January
2018, Cloverdale, BC:
Hi.
I live in Cloverdale, BC and in January 2018 I was at the
park across from my house. It was early in the new year
and I decided to take a few pictures of the lights on the
north shore ski hills. It wasn't until I examined the
pictures later that I realized I had captured something
strange in one of them.
With
regards to the enclosed series of photos you will note a
light approximating the size of a star that appears in the
third photo on the right side of the picture, above the
lights of Mount Seymour in North Van. All pics were taken
in series, approximately four to eleven seconds apart and
from a distance of approximately 50km from the North Shore
mountains. Mount Seymour is on the right, Grouse Mountain
is in the middle, and Cypress Mountain in West Vancouver
is on the left. These mountains are between 3000 and 4000
feet above sea level. The skies were clear and the night
was cold.
I
would estimate the distance captured from right to left to
be approximately 25-30 km which, in my opinion is too
great for the light to be a plane, as it could not travel
across the line of sight in the eight seconds between
photo two and photo three.
It
does not appear in any of the four pictures except the
third one.
23-Jan-2018,
Trail, BC: (9:30 pm to 10:30 pm)
While
visiting my former home town of Trail, BC, I had the
strangest experience on the evening of Tuesday,
January 23, 2018. We were in a house in the Gulch,
along Rossland Avenue, near St. Anthony's Church. Two
of us were seated on a couch watching television.
Starting around 9:30 p.m., my viewing was occasionally
interrupted by intermittent flashes of bright
blue-white light shining into the bathroom window,
which is on the northwest outside wall of the house -
the television is next to the hallway leading to the
bathroom. The light would flash in the window for a
second or two, then stop. A minute or two later, it
would do it again. It kept doing this at irregular
intervals.
At
first, I thought it was a neighbour playing a prank
with a bright spotlight, and I found it quite
irritating as it repeated several times, sort of a
sweeping motion or flashing. But then it occurred to
me that the light was shining downward toward the
window, and I thought that it could be someone playing
with a light on the hillside below Highway 22, or
possibly lights high on a vehicle (like on top of a
truck or snowplow) on the highway, except there are a
lot trees that would be in the way and it would be an
incredible inconvenience for someone to be hiking up
there in a snowstorm, and the lights were too bright
to have come from vehicles as far away as the road. As
the flashing persisted, I then realized that the light
was coming from much higher than that, as if from the
sky. That piqued my curiosity, so I went to the back
door of the house to see if there was some issue with
the power lines. It had been snowing heavily all day
and evening, so I wondered if the storm was shorting
out wires. I stood and looked at the lines for about
half a minute, but seeing no further flashing, went
back inside. By then, it was a little after 10 p.m.
Shortly
after returning to my place in front of the
television, more lights flashed through the window,
brighter than previously. So, I went into the bathroom
to look through the window to see if I could find the
source. Still, I couldn't see where they were coming
from.
My
wife, who had seen me check outside and then check the
bathroom, asked what I was doing, and I described the
flashing lights I had seen. She then explained that
she could see lights flashing on the bed throughout
that time. The lights seemed to be coming in the
bedroom window, which is on a wall that faces
southwest. The ceiling light had been turned on with
the dimmer switch turned down low, so she had assumed
that the dimmer circuit was somehow causing the light
to flicker brightly and creating an optical illusion.
From my vantage point, I couldn't see into the
bedroom. From her vantage point, my wife couldn't see
into the bathroom. Neither of us thought to mention
the peculiar lights to the other.
Around
11 p.m. our area of the city began experiencing power
outages lasting up to about 10 minutes each. I'm
pretty sure they were caused by the heavy, wet snow
that was accumulating, and not in any way connected to
the flashing lights. However, each time the power went
out, I looked out the windows to see how much of the
neighbourhood or the city was affected. But at no time
did I see any more blue-white flashes. They had ended
by about 10:30 or a little earlier.
The
next morning, while I was shovelling the previous
night's snow from our walks, a neighbour asked if we
heard the "weird noises in the sky last night." I
asked her what the noises were like and she described
a type of whirring or trilling sound that was unlike
any she had heard before. She said that this was
around 9:30 when she went to have a smoke on her
porch. She didn't see any lights, but she said that
the sound was overhead and frightened her enough that
she cut short her break and went inside for the rest
of the night.
When
I was outside and when I looked out the windows the
previous evening, I could see that the overcast sky
was low on the hillsides, below 500 meters (we were at
about 425 meters elevation). If there was something up
there shining lights, it would have to have been
pretty low to penetrate the heavy cloud cover and
snow. I wonder if anyone else in the area saw or heard
anything.

Witness Responds:
Hello,
I was browsing your site of the recent sightings and
have input into one of them! Attached is a screenshot
of the one i'd like to add a response to.
(23-Jan-2018, Trail, BC)
The night that this person saw the flashes is the
night that two to three transformers along Bay Avenue
and Groutage Avenue blew. I know because i was
standing between two of them. The one by the new
library in Trail blew first, which caused the second
one to go, and then the third one. The light was
bright enough to make it seem like daylight- and the
gulch being on Cominco's power grid was uneffected. I
have no doubt that this event is exactly what they'd
witnessed.
The heavy and super wet snow had proven to be too much
for the line by the new library and so it blew. I was
standing right under the powerline too, so that shit
was scary.
UFO*BC Responds:
Thanks Dani – I appreciate very much the update and
we’ll be sure to add this explanation to the report.
The witness seemed to think that it was electrical in
nature as well, but it is always nice to have
independent collaboration.
Thanks again,
Richard

Witness Responds:
I
recently saw the update to my January 23 sighting. I
appreciate that your correspondent is trying to help,
but the power transformer problems do not account for
what we experienced.
To
begin with, power outages did not occur in the city
until approximately 11 p.m. Our experience began at
about 9:30.
Bay
Avenue and Groutage Avenue are far from Rossland
Avenue, 1.5 km from our location with a substantial
hill in-between.
Bay
and Groutage are southeast of our location, whereas
the light(s) entered our windows from the northwest
and southwest and illuminated horizontal surfaces
(bathroom floor and bed). The light(s) very definitely
originated from a high point source and repeatedly
moved in a sweeping motion, whereas any electrical
arcing from the sources of the power outages would at
best have caused a dim, diffuse illumination of the
low clouds from the southeast. As our kitchen and
living room have large windows facing southeast, we
almost certainly would have seen any of that light if
it had been bright enough to be seen from our
location. (I once witnessed the power transformer on
the power pole directly behind my house blow up. It
definitely is bright, but it does not produce the kind
of light I saw in January.)
Lastly,
there is the sound that frightened our neighbour. She
described it as directly overhead. Possibly it might
have been a UAV (drone), and that thought had occurred
to me, but I really can't see anyone taking such a
device out in the kind of weather we had that night.
Moreover, the neighbour mimicked the sound (as opposed
to describing it in words), and it was not at all
UAV-like. At the time, she seemed to be describing a
sound that I had heard once before in my life (see http://www.ufobc.ca/History/1960/edge_v2.htm),
which occurred less than 1 km away. Honestly, it made
the hair on the back of my neck stand up when our
neighbour made that sound.
29-Jan-2018,
Surrey, BC: (8 pm)
I
saw some strange lights in the sky earlier this
evening, Jan 29th around 8:00pm near approximately 192
St and 72 Ave in the Surrey/Langley area. I was with a
co-worker at the time and we talked about what it
could have been and couldn't come up with a logical
answer.
What
first caught my eye was an orange light in the sky
through the window, so we stepped outside to check it
out. We were facing north, the sky was mostly clear
where we were looking, with some clouds in the
surrounding areas, but nothing overhead.
We
saw two orange lights travelling at a constant speed,
side by side, maybe 50 yards apart of one another.
Maybe 200-300 yards away from us, and maybe about 100
yards above the ground - give or take (gauging
distance of an object in the sky is not easy).
Following
these two lights that were flying side by side,
perhaps say 200 yards behind, was another 3 lights,
spaced evenly, about 100 yards apart - all 5 lights
moving in a relatively straight line at the exact same
speed. They were flying from almost exactly west to
east.
We
were watching them for about 2 minutes whilst trying
to figure out what they were, before they disappeared
through the clouds. They emitted no sound, no lateral
or vertical movement, aside from their west to east
trajectory. The colour of all the lights appeared to
be a brightly burning orange - almost like seeing a
small campfire from a distance.
Planes
in the sky usually have white, red, blue and/or green
lights, sometimes blinking, and at this distance,
would've made some noise. They were not airplanes or
helicopters.
The
only other logical explanation we could come up with
would be drones. But for that to make sense, someone
would have had to launch 5 drones, and have programmed
them to fly at exact equal distances from one another,
in a precise unbroken formation, while having been
mounted with high luminosity orange lights, travelling
a distance of several kilometers. The distance they
had traveled in the time we watched them was maybe 5
km, give or take.
8-Feb-2018,
Qualicum Beach, BC: (6:10 pm to 6:45 pm)
I
go to this particular beach in Qualicum daily, if not
twice daily some days. Only once have I noticed an
unusual light across the water, but couldn’t decide
what it was and dismissed it. A few nights ago I
stopped to watch the sunset and noticed (in the same
place I saw the first strange light sighting
approximately a year ago) a bright light. The bright
light quickly dimmed but remained stationary. Then a
big round bright light dropped below it, also
stationary. Very slowly the original light moved over
and away, eventually disappearing. The big light also
eventually disappeared, like it slowly turned off. All
of this happened over about 5 minutes. I waited for
about another 5 minutes and the big bright light came
back on again. About 3-4 minutes later it again,
turned off slowly. Waited another 5 or so minutes, and
this time two super bright round lights came on at the
same time, right beside the other, almost like
headlights in the sky. One light slowly moves to the
right, the left one goes out first, about a minute or
two later the right one goes out. I will note, the
light was so bright that it lit up the horizon (it was
lower in sky) and reflected off the water. At one
point during this, there was what I assumed to be a
distant airplane flying as it had blinking lights and
moved smoothly in sky. I took videos and photos as
best I could, using my Iphone 8.
This
occurred between 6:10-645pm approximately.

Responds:
Thanks
for your quick response! And you’re right, that is
Lasqueti Island and I was at Judges Row (see
screenshot photo attached). The two lights on right
side is what I am thinking is Lasqueti Island ferry
terminal, as they are always there.
UFO*BC Responds:
OK.
Good, that makes sense - you were looking almost
directly north? The smaller light (upper and to the
left) is the one you saw first? Then the bigger
brighter light appeared?
When
people report a bright light just after sunset, I
always think of Venus, but it would be in the western
sky, and at the moment it is too close to the Sun to
be seen. You will probably be able to see it after
sunset near the end of the month. There are no planets
in the evening sky at this time, so astronomically,
neither light makes sense. Of course, a second super
bright light later on makes even less sense.
Do
you have a higher resolution image you could send us?
Should be 3 - 5 meg in size?

Witness
Responds:
I
was looking almost directly North, yes. And you’re
right, the smaller light (upper left) is the first
light i saw (was originally brighter than what is
captured in the image and then faded to what you see
in the photo, and then eventually faded away
entirely), and the bright light below it was the
second light.
I
typically will look for explanations first before
assuming, and in this case I had no explanations. The
way these lights “turned on” and “powered down” were
unexplainable for me, the movement, the brightness of
the lights, etc. You’re right, definitely not a
planet, definitely not a star. I watched for such a
long time for a few reasons, one was of course because
i’d never seen anything like this before and two was
because i wanted to make sure it wasn’t a low flying
airplane, such as airforce, or even search and rescue.
But, I quickly realised that neither were occurring
since a) the lights didn't move for long periods of
time/were too bright, b) there were no engine sounds
c) I’ve seen both airforce and search and rescue
coppers many times and know how to both decipher and
identify them. So again, couldn’t come up with any
possible answers here.
27-Feb-2018,
Vancouver, BC:
I
am sending some photos for you to examine. These were
taken on Feb. 27th from a Vancouver office tower in the
downtown core.
It
looks interesting and I have no idea what they could be.
Perhaps photo enhancements might help you out but I wanted
to forward these along regardless. They were taken with
cellphone so the quality is mediocre at best. However what
is interesting is that they did change position and appear
to be doing a fly by of the area. I am attaching the
originals as well as the cropped so you can see what I am
referring to. Three unidentified objects appear in the
sky.
UFO*BC NOTE:
My
first thought was that the white objects were sea gulls, a
common site in Vancouver, but closer inspection didn't
show any of the signs of birds in flight. My partner,
Martin, suggested they could be reflections of recessed
ceiling lights in the room behind the photographer. The
distortion of the images could possibly be caused by by
the window slightly vibrating in the wind (note the
flags). The photographer went back to the room where the
photos were taken and could find no ceiling lights that
could have caused reflections. She also took a few more
pictures, at the same time of day, and standing in the
same spot, but no lights were apparent in the new photos -
see below.
For
now, still a mystery!

8-Mar-2018,
Surrey, BC: (7:25 pm)
At
725pm March 8 2018 a orangey/red glowing orb passed by my
condo window it was big enough for me and my buddy
watching tv to catch our eyes, we tried to rule out
everything shooting star, drone, laser pointer nope the
way it flew and how it maneuvered at those speeds appeared
to be going 4x speed of a plane but slow enough to capture
its movement. It went 2km fast with a slow slightly
rounding drop then totally dropped straight down .5 km
then resumed full speed ... it looked like the size of a
golf ball if you held it 10ft away but it was flying
approx 5 km away and 5km up. It was in the fleetwood
region of surrey bc.
Was
very very strange, strange enough to email some random
local ufo website. And I’m a realist needing proof of
anything to believe it, but I went over all the
possibilities.
I
know what I saw and that was a muthafuckin alien ship.
15-Mar-2018,
Abbotsford, BC: (8:40 pm)
I'm
not quite sure what I saw to be honest. I am a skeptic
when it comes to things like this...
On
March 15, 2018 approximately 8:40 pm I was driving west on
Huntingdon Rd in Abbotsford (with another person). It was
already dark outside. In the distance it looked as though
there was a plane ahead and it didn't really draw any
attention until minutes later... as I continued driving it
looked as though the plane was flying rather low and also
slow. It was hard to tell really as the distance seemed
deceiving in the dark ... As we were driving we both
realized that this was not a low flying airplane in the
distance. It was not a plane at all. It was some sort of
air craft but definitely not an airplane or a drone. It
wasn't moving but it was hovering or rather stationary in
the sky above the road I was driving on. I drove directly
beneath it, whatever this thing was. It was completely
black ... with red and green lights that blinked as
would an airplane flying through the night sky. I couldn't
hear any sounds coming from it until we were directly
beneath it, then I could hear the sound of some kind of
engine. It hovered just above the power lines (with regard
to distance). The width of it was approximately the same
width as the road I was on. From what I could see when
driving beneath it there were some kind of strips of
material or something I don't know how to describe it. I
slowed as I was driving beneath it and was kind of freaked
out a bit too to be honest. I was telling the passenger to
take my phone and take pics but the craft being behind us
now so I did a U turn when I got up the hill and tried to
drive fast to where it was but it was gone. It was only
seconds before it was just a dot. I stopped and I did try
to video it, but the quality is poor and it just looks
like a dot moving in the dark sky. I am a skeptic and
really am unsure what to think. I just know it was not a
drone. I tried to look up sightings for this area but
there were no others from what I could tell as I don't
really know where one would look to find out... there was
a sighting in Ontario where they saw something almost
exactly the same about a day apart.
I'm
curious now.

Thank-you
for the report.
I
too am not sure what you may have seen. Could you possibly
draw the object for us?
I
am trying to determine how far off the ground it was, and
how large it appeared – you mentioned the width of the
road – how large would you say that was?
Thanks,
and looking forward to hearing from you,

Witness
Responds:
I
attempted to draw it. Sorry it looks like an elementary
child's drawing! It was way more dimensional than the
drawing. It wasn't a flat surface - indentations between
the lights. And on top, the lights were a little less
centered, more negative space between the lights, because
from a distance it deceptively had the look of airplane
lights. It wasn't triangular, more rectangular. There's an
airport a couple/few miles from this area it was at, so
it's not too bizarre to see low elevated lights etc.,
because one would assume it's airport related. But I
literally didn't make it out until I was right there...
Cause it wasn't moving and my eyes were first on the
lights until I saw the entire machine. It was not a drone
for certain.
22-Mar-2018, Port Coquitlam, BC:
(11:45 pm)
I
was driving home after work on the night of Thursday March
22 2018 at 1145pm. I had just passed Shaughnessy Street
and noticed a rather large aircraft that was very low and
heading towards citadel heights. To me it looked like it
was going down or crashing then as it went up it came back
down like a roller coaster would do if going forward then
backwards. As I got closer this object was a large
rectangle like with lights in the front and underneath and
kinda had a hum to it. I just said what the heck is that
to myself. It then moved across the water rather low back
towards the bridge westbound. This was not a helicopter or
plane like I said it was more like a large rectangle and I
mean large. I saw a similar sighting in Abbotsford a week
ago its pretty much the same. I did get to the next pull
off to take a picture or video but it was now too far
away.
1-Apr-2018,
Surrey, BC:
Tonight
driving home from Langley to Vancouver after visiting with
my mom. Its just after midnight. On hwy 1 heading towards
Port Mann bridge. Just passed 176 exit. I see in the
distance (closer to the Guildford I think it's 152nd st
exit) what at first I thought was a low flying plane. Then
realized quickly it was not. It crossed over the highway
left to right or east to west. Then stopped. Hovered for a
bit and crossed back over and hovered again. I could now
see it is a ball of flashing red white light. With some
green. Kind of like a green aura. Then it started to
flying towards my direction and I actually started to
freak out that I was going to drive underneath this thing.
I didn't know what the heck was gonna happen. So I slowed
down. Then it started to pull away and fly more along side
me. Now I'm right close to getting on Port Mann Bridge and
it went left of the bridge or just a bit east hovering
over the area of houses that overlook the bridge and
Fraser River. It just stayed there. Didn't move. I kept
driving and was too freaked out to turn around and see.
This is not the first time I've seen things like this in
BC. But this was the closest I ever got and yea I got
spooked. Had I not been alone I'd likely have had the
balls to turn a round and see what the heck it was.
Wondering if anyone else saw this? There are lots of house
in the area that it stopped and hovered over. Not sure how
everyone didn't see this that was driving. But I appeared
to be the only person slowing down on freeway to look.
3-Apr-2018, Vancouver, BC:
(9:54 pm)
Hi,
this happened on 3/4/18 at 21:54 looking north of
Vancouver, BC. Hovering over MT Seymour, swiping through
the cloud 4 orange formation lights moving individually,
southwest over the bay until all UFOs faded slowly into
the cloud. A second group of lights, 3 orange, same size
and colour as prior, appeared within seconds of the first
group hiding into the cloud. This lasted about 2 minutes
or less. Two groups totalling 7 lights. The formations
were slow to move it seemed from my perspective, they were
heading west/north once they hover over the bay or inlet.
May-2018,
Quesnel, BC:
In May 2018 my wife and I were in Quesnel and one night at
my mother-in-law's house we were star gazing, and
satellite spotting, when we decided to go in. It was about
eleven at night, and we were nearly at the back door when
I saw a flash of light at the corner of my eye, so I
turned saying "cool, meteor" and I saw two bright lights
flashing through the sky.
They were travelling north to south at a fast speed and
the weird thing was that they were maneuvering. What I
mean is that for example the left one would jerk towards
the right and the right one would get out of the way and
then go back towards the left one. Their movement was
quick and jerky as they kept moving and backing away from
each other as they flew south.
Both my wife and I saw this, and then ten seconds later
three more lights flew over us heading in the same
direction, in a v formation. By this time I was recovered
enough to grab my binoculars and I looked at the three
lights looking for nav lights, anti collision lights,
strobes or anything else that could identify it as
aircraft but all i saw were orange discs.
I called my old bosses at the Joint Operations Centre in
CFB Esquimalt and I asked them if there were any air
exercises nearby. Mainly I thought that if they were
aircraft, the only ones I knew that flew in formation was
military and if this were military pilots flying like
idiots over a populated area then there was going to be
hell to pay. But they said no exercises were anywhere near
us.
2 nights later there were about 7 of us sitting around a
fire pit when I looked up and saw the first two lights
again. I shouted for everyone to look and we all saw them.
I still don't know what they could be and any suggestions
would be welcome.
3-May-2018,
Surrey, BC: (8:30 pm)
So
last night I was walking with my daughter (May 3, 2018). I
can't remember the exact time, but probably around 8:30.
The night sky in our area was very clear with now clouds
impeding any visibility and there was still a lot of
daylight.
The
path over our home is the path that planes take towards
YVR so it has a lot of planes going overhead, and Langley
airport is nearby for smaller aircraft.
I
must start by saying that I have an engineering degree and
I am a very technical person. I know what drones are, I
know the speed and height jet aircraft and small aircraft
fly at.
So,
as I was walking, I looked up and travelling in a western
direction towards YVR, I saw a Greenish aura lit object
travelling towards us. It caught my attention as it was
moving extremely fast, almost as fast as a fighter jet,
and I told my daughter to look as we don't see fighter
jets often. Last one I saw fly over was years and years
ago. We watched as it must have travelled over 20
kms in smooth non-accelerating fast speed. When it got
over us, I had a feeling it wasn't a fighter jet as it
suddenly stopped and literally disappeared. There was no
sound of jet engines, motors or any kind of hypersonic
explosion. Just quietly disappeared so quickly, it
unhinged me. It travelled too far to be a drone, it was
too quiet to be a jet, and it flew a lot lower like a
Cessna, but no sound and the speed and disappearance was
mind boggling. The green aura wasn't flashing it was
consistent, which was odd.
It
was no plane. I have no explanation for it. The engineer
in me won't accept it being anything other than military,
but no tech exists for it to disappear like this. No
sound. No object visible afterwards. It was a super clear
sky and still lit.
Has
anyone else reported this? It disappeared somewhere near
no15 hwy and the transcanada no1. highway intersection in
Surrey, BC.
3-May-2018,
Coquitlam, BC: (8:30 pm)
At
around 8:30 p.m. this evening (May 3, 2018) I was standing
next to my vehicle in the parking lot of the Staples
outlet on Seguin Drive in Coquitlam. I was facing
east-northeast, looking toward the nearby Great Canadian
Superstore. The sun had just gone down but there was still
plenty of daylight. Suddenly my attention was drawn to a
fast-moving bright, white light traveling from east to
west above the Superstore. As I looked more closely, I
could see that the light formed the thicker part of a
teardrop-shaped object, with the thin end trailing behind.
I could detect no sound at all from this object. Within a
few seconds it had reached a point due north of my
position. I could see quite clearly that it was not a
conventional aircraft, and it was not a drone. As the
thought "UFO" formed in my mind, the light and the object
suddenly shrank in size to nothing and completely
vanished, right in mid-air. I wondered if the object had
turned north and flown directly away from me at high
speed, but when I replayed the image in my mind I realized
that it had just shrunk quickly to nothing. I stayed at my
vehicle for several minutes scanning the sky for any
further sight of it, but it did not reappear. It was a
flying object, and I have no idea what it was. By
definition -- a UFO.
23-May-2018,
Nanaimo, BC: (10:45 pm)
Last
night around 10:45 pm I was sitting outside having a fire.
I looked up at the sky and suddenly appearing out of
nowhere a ball of light was streaming along the sky
towards I guess . . . earth . . . looked more like towards
my house lol. Anyway there was another behind it. They
both flew towards "my house" then proceeded to slow down
as they went past, then flew away up into the sky pretty
fast until I could no longer see them. The weird thing is,
the street lights in front of my house as well as my
neighbor's went out for about a minute or so then turned
on again. Not only that ... dogs were barking, more so
than usual?? Or maybe it was my mind playing tricks. I
have no idea what I saw!! All I know is that I cannot
explain it. Never seen anything like that before!!!

Hi.
I just experienced a strange weather phenomenon above
Nelson BC. On June the 1st 2018 at around 6:30pm I was
visiting a friend near Nelson BC when I noticed a ray of
light starting from highway 6 east and stopping just above
Nelson. The ray of light was perfectly straight
(resembling a comet trail) but the strange thing was the
ray had a rainbow at the end of it? Then it just
stopped without continuing past the rainbow. It lasted
about 10 to 15 minutes I had only managed to get a few
seconds of video but glad I did. Natural phenomenon, UFO,
Paranormal, or Mythos?
23-Jun-2018, Kamloops, BC:
(6:40 to 6:45 pm)
Yesterday,
Saturday, June 23 I saw an object in the sky from 6:40 to
6:45. Driving West on Ord Road, Kamloops BC, near Cinnamon
Ridge. It was at first oblong and shining very brightly in
the sun, pulsing a bit at times, until very clearly
turning from a long and skinny disc shape to perfectly
circular. It changed size from large to smaller and back
to larger before turning back to an oblong shape again. It
pulsed a bit more, shining so brightly in the sunny sky,
and then back again to a perfect circle, at which point, I
started to record this sighting. While it was oblong the
shape was not totally opaque, but the center top area was
sometimes clear in an oval as it shimmered about and
pulsed. When I got out of the truck to get a better look,
it had disappeared.

Responds:
Thank-you
for the photograph. Although the shape is quite
reminiscent of the classical UFO/Saucer, I am sorry to say
that given the motion blur, it is likely a bug at very
close proximity to the lens.
These
types of photographs are very common - people take a photo
and only after looking at it after the fact, do they see a
blurry shape. The bug went by the camera too fast for our
eyes to perceive, but not too fast for the shutter to
pickup.
Thanks
for the photo none the less!!

Summer
2018, Delta/Surrey, BC:
Approximately
2 years ago [Reported August 2020], I left the confines of
my boat in the Annieville Slough in Delta and walked along
the docks to go up to my car and drive the 20 minutes or
so to my girlfriend's place. As I walked the docks I
looked up to see what I call a typical Hollywood style UFO
hovering at about an altitude of 300 feet and about the
same distance in front of me. It was a metallic craft
maybe 50 to 60 feet in diameter, a disc with a level on
the top. It also had partially exposed domes on the bottom
of the craft, 6 to 8 in total, alternating in green and
the next one being blue.
I
looked and tried to get a good mental picture, then turned
around, my back to the craft now, walking back to my boat.
I dialed my girlfriend's place and told her I was not
coming to see her tonight. She asked me why, to which I
replied that there was some strange shit going on down
here.
Two
weeks later, we were leaving my girlfriend's place in
Surrey to go dinner. As I walked outside, my gf asked me
how I noticed the UFO the other week. I said, "Well Lynne,
I looked up into the sky." As I said this I looked up and
above her property in the rear and there it was again. The
very same craft! I looked at my gf and asked her if she
could see what I was looking at and she said, "Yes. What
is it?" I said, "I don't know, but I think we should go
back in the house because this is no coincidence and I
don't want to know what they want." I had a feeling they
were there for me.
I
was then 65 years old; worked in the Airlines for 22
years; an Air Force Brat; well traveled and held a Pilots
Licence. I know what I saw.
I
have not told many people about it and both times I never
considered taking a picture. Since then I have seen
them other nights; pointed out one late one night to the
whole film crew. I work in Special Effects for TV and
Movies.
I
have purchased an infrared viewing device. That's another
story. I have RH negative blood and feel that they have
been around me for a long time.
There,
now I have really told someone.
8-July-2018,
Pritchard, BC: (10:28 am)
Good
morning,
I
have just come inside from a sighting that has taken place
this morning. It is 10:28 am Sunday July the 8th, 2018. My
name is Paul Xxxxx and I live in Pritchard B.C. The time
of the initial sighting was around 10:20 am on the same
date.
Scenario...…
I
was sitting on our deck outside facing South. I was
watching our neighbor rake his hay field and more so I was
watching the Birds chasing the mice and what not, that
that process reveals.
I
was following a Vulture, while looking through our
binoculars, when all of a sudden a bright white dot
appeared in the background. My initial thought was that it
was somehow a planet or star, but quickly dismissed that.
Then I figured that it was a plane flying at a very high
altitude. I no longer was following the bird, but became
focused on the white light. I wanted to see if the object
was in fact moving, thus maybe confirming that it was a
plane, after all, and not a star or planet.
The
object was in fact moving as I had to continuously adjust
my viewing angle.... So then I was on the idea that, yes,
this must be a plane flying at a very high altitude,
because I could not make out any distinctive shape; it
looked "spherical". I would have let this sighting end
right there except for the fact that suddenly this object
completely changed direction, in a fraction of a second. I
would have to say about 145-165 degrees; not a complete
180, but very, very close.
The
speed of the object stayed constant through out the entire
sighting. The initial direction of the object was from the
North East heading towards South West, then after the
direction change, the direction was towards the North
East. I watched the object through the binoculars until I
finally lost sight of it.
The
whole encounter lasted approximately (5) five to (7) seven
minutes.
Additional
information....
I
quickly did a visual check to see if I could see this
object with the naked eye, and I could not see it. The
total coverage of the sky was from 12 O'clock to 3 O'clock
to 9 O'clock, on vertical axis.
Thank
you for taking this information.
21-July-2018,
Cloverdale, BC: (10:00 pm)
Hi
there.
I
live in Cloverdale and this whole last week I kept seeing
a strange yellow light in the sky. Last night at 10pm I
decided to take pictures. The light was not there. I awoke
at midnight for a restroom break and there it was. I took
the attached pics. It moves around and changed shape.
I
have never been one to believe ufo's but this has me
wondering.... Please let me know if others have reported
the same?
Thanks.

Responds:
To
better understand what you may have caught on camera, can
you please let us know what direction you were facing and
how far off the horizon the object was? Also was it at
exactly midnight or just roughly. Did the object move
around in the sky? Was it stationary? If it did move, what
type of movement, and which direction or apparent speed?
Thanks

Responds:
Hi
Richard,
I
watched it in the south position. How high is hard to
tell...mmmm...top of tree lines5-6 blocks away. All week
it usually appeared around 10-10:30. Last night it wasn't
there at that time but was at midnight?? Yes definitely
moves up and down. Not seen by eye but on zoom of camera.
UFO*BC
Responds:
Thanks.
Given
that it is a repeating event, in my experience that
indicated that there is a ‘normal’ explanation for it. In
fact at that time of the evening looking south is Antares
(this is a view from the night sky here in Vancouver at
10:30pm)
It
is one of the brightest stars in the night sky: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antares
Given that you only saw the movement with the camera zoom,
that can be explained by movement of your hand holding the
camera – tiny motion of the hand will appear larger in the
camera due to the zoom.
So although I cannot be 100% sure, I am 99.9% sure that
you are enjoying a view of Antares. Of course, part of our
methods is to first attempt a standard explanation. From
the balance of probability, we’ve found that if a sighting
‘repeats’ itself it is almost always a natural phenomena.
Of course I’m not saying what you are seeing is definitely
a star, but that is the easiest and likely explanation.
Keep us updates as to any further sightings.
Thank-you,
Richard
22-July-2018,
Nanaimo, BC:
Hello,
I
took this photo back on July 22 in Nanaimo. The photo
isn’t exactly exciting but it was a unusual sighting. I
will relate below.
Neck
Point , Nanaimo BC, 6pm July 22
I
went to the park around 6pm with my friend and her little
guy. We were at Neck Point facing northwest. As my friends
little guy was running on the beach he called to me and
pointed at the sky. We could see something falling with a
contrail in what looked like a northern direction.
The
object was clear to the naked eye, very far away possibly
Comox Valley, slow moving and had a clear contrail or
vapour trail stretching far. I looked through my
binoculars and could see what looked like fragments coming
off and a darker contrail. After a few minutes my friend
and I began to think this was a very large meteor that had
not broken up. Our total observation was about 10mins at
which point it was no longer visible.
I
have see more convincing oddities but this looked like a
object entering the atmosphere. We ruled out a plane
reflection as we both saw what looked like a smouldering
object. The trajectory looked downward and we both saw
pieces. Illumination was also steady. The photo was taken
on my cell phone so very little detail but you can see the
white object in the center.
Maybe
someone else saw this as well. Thanks.
UFO*BC
Responds:
The
photo is a very nice one - but I'm afraid it doesn't show
anything unusual. Sunset does a very strange thing to
aerial objects: since the sun is still fully visible the
higher you are (like an aircraft's altitude) they will
often appear as very bright during a sunset. This is due
to the sun being at full strength at the height of the
aircraft, and not down at ground level.
The
sighting you reported is exactly that, the aircraft and
contrail being lit up by the sun as it appeared to be
setting at sea level. So sadly not a UFO of any sort, but
a lovely picture none the less.
Thank-you
for the report!

the lights doesn't move, but the other two move around and
then they disappear. Only one light stays, but, it doesn't

Richmond, BC: (2 am)
The
night of Aug 7 (early morning aug 8) around 2 am I saw
something that I thought was a star at first and then
realized it’s too bright and yellow to be a star, so I
thought it was a far away plane because it was so high in
the sky, then I realized it was just hovering up and down
but not flying like a plane.
I
saw it again the following night around 1 am, but it
looked a little more left from where it was the
previous night,
I

27-Aug-2018,
Vancouver, BC: (9 - 10 pm)
I
was having a smoke on the balcony of my apartment. I have
a clear view of west Vancouver from my place. From my
balcony I can see commercial planes flying to YVR. I
always enjoyed watching planes flying to and from the YVR
airport from my balcony. On this night I noticed an
aircraft with a bright red light flying in the direction
of south UBC. It was flying with a very high speed. Since
I am familiar with watching commercial airplanes I noticed
that this aircraft was flying with a much higher speed. At
this point I thought it was some sort of airplane, because
airplanes usually have a red light as well. Only
difference was that this aircraft didn’t have a blinking
red light, the red light was not blinking but continuously
burning. The aircraft flew over from my location, Joyce
Collingwood to UBC or passed UBC in just seconds, at least
10 seconds or less. Above UBC the aircraft just stopped,
and then it flew back and forth between north and south
with increasing speed. Especially the increasing speed was
remarkable. I could see it speeding up to very high
speeds. Way faster than commercial planes. I do see
commercial planes at the same position as this aircraft
all the time, but this was nothing compared to them. After
speeding up, it would just stop abruptly and fly in the
opposite direction right away. I have never seen any
airplanes doing this, so I went back inside to grab my
binoculars to have a closer look. When I came back on the
balcony the aircraft has disappeared. I haven't done that
much research yet, but after googling I noticed a video on
from CTV news of Vancouver Island on April 2015. This
video is quite similar with the red light. In the video
they think it is a drone, but its certainly not a drone
since it flew many kilometers in just seconds. I don’t
think drones can do this.
1-Sep-2018,
Logan Lake, BC:
Logan
lake BC, traveling in an RV at night around Sep1st 2018.
Saw a white light that looked like a V-shaped object,
thought it was maybe a drone with a light on. It traveled
over fields and just above tree height but as we drove
around the bend towards Logan Lake the object stayed in
view and must have traveled at least 2km alongside us and
keeping up the same speed (approx 60km/hr) for a good few
minutes over trees and fields until it went out of view
continuing to travel very fast. If it was a drone I have
no idea how someone managed to keep track of where it was
and why it seemingly followed alongside us for multiple
minutes.
26-Sep-2018,
Victoria, BC: (9:10 pm)
I
must report a ufo sighting only a few minutes ago at
exactly our time 9:10 or 9:11. Tonight. It Was A very
large wide triangle fairly short body single flying wing
looking craft, it had at least 3 pot light looking lights
on the under side of the port and starboard underside. It
looked like it was coming out of cloak or it just flew out
of a cloud, I watched very carefully as the city lights of
Victoria, BC lit up a reflection of the underside of this
craft. It was clear for 3 seconds but it seemed like an
eternity. It seemed to be gliding but still having perfect
control. It came out of cloak or a cloud moving slowly
across a post full moon sky visible 3 seconds and
disappear gently into cloak or a cloud again into a black
sky. Absolutely no engine noise and slow and steady. I
phoned the Saanich police department immediately and gave
my report and they said it was the first one? So that's
it. Thanks.

On
what date did you have the sighting? You originally

place? Any other information? Any sounds? What alerted you
to the object in the first place? How many people
witnessed it?

The
date of the sighting was September 29 at approximately
6:45 pm. The object slowly came in from the west, hovered
above us for a while. Then slowly went back out west the
same way it came from. Made no noise that we could hear.
Hope you got the clip of the jet passing by it. The object
was definitely above the plane giving us some scale as to
the size. Too large for a drone in my opinion.
Forgot
to mention the sighting took place in Burnaby British
Columbia.
6-Oct-2018, Osoyoos, BC:
I
saw this in Osoyoos October 06/18 at around 12 pm. I
was looking up and spotted a rather slow moving object
that appeared as a long rectangle. It had no sound and
kept a steady pace.
If you zoom in on it, notice the symmetry of the body and
a middle portion as the view increases.
8-Oct-2018, Surrey, BC:
I
was outside early the other morning and I saw what I
thought was a remote helicopter. Then 3 more
followed behind. The first one and two of the three
that followed appeared to have made it to the ground while
the last one started to go back up. I was showing my
kids and we zoomed in and it appears to separate and go
back together, there are also weird red beams that appear
that I couldn't see as far as I recall. Curious if
you have seen or heard of of anyone experiencing these
before. I have been experiencing some weird things
lately and I'm not sure what to think of this. They
were pretty smooth flying in not all jerky that was me.
26-Oct-2018,
Surrey, BC: (8:45 pm)
I'm
living in downtown Surrey, BC right now and about 8:45 PM
I was on my patio when I faintly heard something cutting
through the air. I looked up and I couldn't make sense of
what it was I was seeing; at first my honest thought was,
"is that a dragon?" as it didn't hold a straight solid
shape and was vary long and didn't look too wide in
the body. It kind of looked like a long drawn out S. There
was absolutely no sound to it and held the shape and kind
of banked to the left a bit and just disappeared into the
night sky. There were no lights on it at all and if it
wasn't for the moon being out I don't think I would have
seen it at all and that might explain the shape as I might
have only been seeing a bit of a reflection of the craft.
I'm living in a 19 story building and there's a
construction crane across the street which I'm guessing is
about 400 to 450 feet up and it was probably about 50 feet
above that. I have no explanation of exactly what I have
just seen. Although I did read about the sighting in
September in Victoria and it sounds pretty similar to me.
Thanks.
Nov-2018?,
Surrey, BC:
Hi
there,
I
recently came across your website and saw that a few
people had reported sightings that were a couple of years
old so I thought I’d send along the two that I have had
here in Surrey, BC.
A
couple years ago [2017?] I was standing in my driveway
with my neighbour as we were about to walk her dogs at the
local school yard at the end of our street. While on walks
with the dogs previously, I’d been talking about my recent
fascination with UFO research and was constantly looking
into the sky at night to see if I could see anything,
which I never did. On this night as we were preparing to
begin our walk with the dogs, my neighbour was giving me
the gears about my interest in UFO’s, in a good natured
way. As I looked to the northeast in the sky I saw a bank
of lights that were gliding across the sky toward us. It
seemed quite low and was not the typical flight movement
of a plane. We are on the trajectory for planes to land at
YVR and we see planes on particular days all day long and
into the evening. This was not a plane. As it glided over
us I could see that it was a round bank of lights and it
glided over us without making a sound. I can’t remember
how large it was but it was a circle. My neighbour and I
both watched it glide past us and as it moved away from us
it struck me that it looked exactly the same leaving as it
did coming toward us. That is what caught my attention
after it left. I felt that it kind of put me into some
kind of mild trance-like state as we both just stood there
with this bewildered look on our faces. As we began our
walk with the dogs neither of us said anything for about
10 minutes until I said “what the heck was that?”. My
neighbour said “I have no idea but I’ve been wondering the
same thing for the past 10 minutes”. I have no idea what
it was but I’m convinced it was not anything like a plane
or helicopter or any other of the usual airborne vehicles
that regularly pass overhead.
The
second sighting came just a few months ago [Nov 2018?] as
I was sitting at a patio table that is in my front
driveway with my Mother. It was broad daylight and all of
a sudden I saw a very bright light in the sky, moving
toward us from a fair distance. I said to my Mother, “What
in the heck is that?” As I said that, my Mother looked up
at it and as she did, it accelerated to a high speed, got
really wide and a blackish grey type circle seemed to
explode within it’s centre and it disappeared! As it
disappeared I said “Where did it go?” and my Mother said
“It probably went behind the tree.”. There is a tree
that is across the street in the neighbour's yard
which is tall and when looking at the sky it extends into
the skyline. As it approached it sped up and when it hit
the tree line from the top of the tree it just
disappeared. I said, "If it went behind the tree top then
where is it now?" It should be visible as the tree is a
very leafy tree and you can see the skyline through the
leaves. It didn’t come out the other side. It just
literally disappeared.
Those
are my two sightings. They have both left me wondering
what the heck they were. I know they were not planes or
anything I’d ever seen.
Nov-2018,
Surrey, BC: (8:45 pm)
Hi.
Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not a skeptic, but I'm also
logical and have some knowledge of what may or may not be
up in the sky. I'll start by saying I don't know what I
saw but each time I do witness a light phenomena in the
sky it is traveling the same way or at least along the
same line. So this time I saw three orange lights in line
traveling very slowly towards Vancouver, so east to west.
I watched this through binoculars for about 90 seconds at
which time it was too hard to see. I then saw a super
quick bright orange meteorite or "shooting star" moving so
quick. I've seen shooting stars before but this seemed
quicker. Anyway, I don't need to get any reply but I just
wanted to report what I saw. Thanks for doing a great job
guys. I appreciate the work you do thank you!
6-Nov-2018,
Langley, BC: (about 11 pm)
Hello
UFOBC,
Last
night Tues Nov 6, 2018 I was on my back porch in Langley
looking southeast to the sky. It was about 11pm but don’t
know the exact time. I made out of the corner of my eye
three bright lights, 2 at back and one further up to the
front 25% longer than the width. The object was very high
in the atmosphere, perhaps much higher than a jet. There
was also a single light trailing on its right side close
but a bit further back. (See diagram - d shows
direction).
O
d
>
O
d >
O
O
The lights travelled the entire arc of the sky maybe 75
times the speed of a commercial airliner but don’t know
altitude. There was some cloud so they went from faint to
very bright overhead. Absolutely no audible sounds.
I
thought fighter jets, but the spacing was perfect and it
was eerie.
Just
thought I’d put this in as it was something definitely
unidentifiable by me.
Has
anyone else seen this?

9-Nov-2018,
Sea Island, BC: (about 2 pm)
My
older brother (63), and I (48) were walking back from the
end of the out pipe at Iona Park Friday Nov. 9th about 2pm
at about the 2 kilometer mark. Walking towards the road we
both heard a motorized sound flying towards us from
behind. We both said, "plane coming again". But, the noise
was quite lower and as it was just above us, we both
looked up and behind. We saw nothing.
But, now the energy flow was evident. Not a wind or
something. But, definitely hear a whooshing, wailing sound
that hovers above us. Definitely rotating clockwise for 2
or 3 minutes.
I
was looking, concentrating on seeing something that
obviously sounds like it was fairly large, rotating,
hovering twenty feet above us. No gusts, no temperature
change, no ripples in the air. But, an energy definitely
from above. Then, it left. We could hear it leave straight
in front us. You could hear it still 500 meters away.
We
were in awe.
10-Nov-2018,
Stave Lake, Mission, BC: (around 8 pm)
My
boyfriend and I went out to Stave Lake to have a fire with
a couple of friends on November 10 2018 at around 8pm. On
the way up we were explaining how we had seen an odd red
and blue flashing light in the sky last time. As we get
there and my boyfriend starts to light the fire, my one
friend had walked about 20 feet away from our Jeep into
the darkness on the mudflats to star gaze and called us
over to look at something unusual. It was the red and blue
"star-looking" object. The odd thing about it was it was
moving. We used a set of three stars in a triangular shape
beside it to keep its location. When we first saw it, it
was in line with the top point of the set of stars. As the
four of us watched, the red and blue "star" would
sporadically move and do figure eights, then stop. More
figure eights, then stop. It looked like something was
mapping something out? We were so perplexed we watched the
thing n the sky for an hour. By the time we had left the
object was in line with the bottom left corner of the
triangular star shape. As we started leaving stave we
never saw it in the sky after that. It could have not been
an airplane or satellite because it would have travelled
across the sky; I don't think it could have been a drone
either. It was way too high in the sky!
5-Dec-2018,
Montague Harbour, Galiano Island, BC: (5:15 pm)
I
was walking out to my car when my attention was drawn by a
slow-moving bright light approaching from the northwest.
At first I thought it was a small airplane, but when I
listened closely I could detect no sound at all. The light
was whitish, oval-shaped, and very bright. It resembled
the searchlight from an approaching helicopter. It had the
apparent size of a streetlight at a distance of 250 ft or
so. I could not discern any structure, just an oval-shaped
light. I went to my car and fetched my 7x35 binoculars for
a closer look. At that magnification the object still
presented as a solid white light, and I could still see no
structure behind it. The object continued to move from
northwest to southeast, apparently following the
topography of the island. It was flying at the same speed
as a small airplane, or perhaps a bit slower. I put down
the binoculars and got out my cell phone to take a photo.
By the time my phone powered up, the object was already
moving away from me to the east. I had just enough time to
get off a couple of shots before it went behind the trees.
Unfortunately, the resolution is not very great, but at
least the object is visible. I must stress that it was
absolutely silent. I have spent a lot of time on the Gulf
Islands and have seen thousands of aircraft overflights. I
can state with certainty that this was not a conventional
aircraft.
Sky
clear with no moon present.
24-Dec-2018, Nanaimo, BC:
(9:10 pm)
I
was taking out the garbage at about 9:10 Christmas Eve,
and as I was walking to the garbage cans I heard voices
coming on the wind from beyond my back yard. I couldn’t
make out what was said, but they sounded animated. I
started walking again, and when I got to the cans I heard
them getting louder so I again looked (Northward) in their
direction and saw an object about an inch big at arm's
length coming out of the northwest at about 800-1000 feet
away, traveling about 30-40 miles an hour and getting
closer to me. The sky was fairly clear and the wind was
blowing and gusting out of the northeast, pretty much
across from the objects flight path. There was no sound
from the object as it steadily moved in a south easterly
direction at about 200 feet above the ground, just over
and beyond the treetops of my neighbour's back yard. The
object looked kind of like a dark rock about 5 to 10 feet
in diameter and had a very strange well defined
conical-shaped field coming off it, perhaps 4 to 5 times
the objects diameter that was shimmering in intensity in
hues of red and orange. It was highly visible. As the
object came by directly centered from left to right it
seemed about 600 feet away, and the cone was coming off it
much like the cone of a fighter jet moving through the
sound barrier appears...it almost appeared to be
straining. I was stunned...I couldn’t make sense of what I
was seeing, but even though there were trees in front of
me I could see it very clearly as it kept moving, now away
and to the right. It passed just under the almost full
moon, and I could still see this cone of energy, like a
force field coming off it. It was about half the size of
the moon it passed under by that time...and was now
starting to look like there was a small star inside it. As
I ran out onto the road to get a clear view of it, the
object made a steady left turn over the street I live on,
and headed directly away from me, now traveling almost
directly eastward over the city. It now appeared to me as
just a star that was shimmering, but bigger and brighter.
It also seemed to be climbing slightly as it moved away. I
was watching as it move steadily and directly away, and
kicking myself for not having my cell phone with me, when
I heard more voices on the wind coming from northward. I
looked left and saw a second object coming from the same
area as the first one, and now had a completely
unobstructed view of it....until it went behind the trees
closest to me...so I ran into the house, got my phone
which was right by the front door, and ran back out
fumbling with it to turn the camera on to video mode. I
got 94 seconds of video of the second object as it moved
away, keeping the same general southeast heading and not
making any major turns like the first one did. It might
have started to gain a little altitude as it was heading
southeastward towards an area of higher ground. They both
seemed to be generally following the terrain below, and
were both completely silent.
I
have been a private fixed wing pilot since 1987, with some
helicopter training as well, have worked with helicopters
both in forestry, and at sea as flight deck crew of an
icebreaker. I have owned and flown two large scale remote
controlled helicopters, and was an active skydiver until a
few years ago... and I can’t explain what I saw..!! If
this was some “Santa sighting” hoax played out by some
clever people (there were at least two objects) then they
got me good...!!! But I don’t think that was the case. The
video does NO justice to what I saw that night...the
objects seemed to be like big Geodes with a star inside
them only visible from the back, and being contained by
some exotic force field. The whole incident has left me
somewhat disturbed, and hoping desperately that the source
of the voices I heard would come forward with their
story....
