Dear Mr. Jasek;

I am taking this opportunity to thank you for sending me a copy of UFO*BC - Special Report No. 1. As I only recently arrived in the north (Nov 97) this is the first time that I have heard of these sightings.

I will be forwarding your report off to Ottawa for their action. I must caution you, however, that due to the original date these sightings took place, I personally expect that only a records check will be completed to see if any further investigation is warranted.

For your information, I must point out that Canada and the USA (as NORAD partners) back in either the end of the 1970's or early 1980's determined that the existence of extra terrestrials was unfounded and as such did away with their "UFO Sighting Report". Currently, unexplained phenomena that originate off the surface of the Earth are referred to as and "Unusual Occurrence". When ever I receive any information dealing with an "Unusual Occurrence" I forward the information off to DG Int (Director General Intelligence located in Ottawa) and to 1 CAD/CANR HQ (1st Canadian Air Division / Canadian NORAD Region Headquarters located in Winnipeg).

It has been my experience that all sightings that I have reported up the chain of command have proven to be either satellites or high flying military aircraft.

I would ask that you forward to me two more copies of your so that I can forward an original and not a photocopy to Ottawa and Winnipeg.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

WO Kevin Rowe
Intelligence and Security Officer
Canadian Forces Northern Area
