ASK THE WEATHERMAN

C. E. B., Vancouver. Re your request for people to write who believe they have seen a flying saucer.

One clear sunny summer day, fourteen years ago, (I remember the number of years because my daughter was four at the time and is eighteen now, actually fifteen years ago I guess as she will be nineteen in August). I was with my mother in the kitchen of our house when I heard my daughter cry for me to come quickly. I ran and got there just in time to see this object speeding through the cloudless sky. By the time my mother got out it was gone over the mountains. It was travelling from south to north and the most remarkable thing was the speed of it — I have forgotten the exact shape but it seemed to be white with a darker quarter-moon shape at the bottom.

About this time the radio had started giving money to people who reported a newsworthy item so I phoned the station in New Westminster and the chap laughed and mentioned about it being a hot day but I kept serious and insisted I saw it but he would not pay me any money and referred me to the Weather Bureau, saying that they might have weather balloons up – so I phoned them but they didn't. Anyway the fantastic speed was like nothing I had ever seen before.
