Prophecy Comes True

“Flying Ice Cream Cone” May Be Speedy Bomber

Airline officials will have to post “no trespassing" signs on their flightways if the current influx of odds and ends continues to be reported over the Lower Mainland.

A Vancouver airport official spotted an object on Tuesday night that appeared to be flying at about 15,000 feet and 700 miles an hour.

He described the object as a “flying ice cream cone" trailing a “white substance behind it.”

The official checked with the control tower but there was no traffic reported in the air at that time.

“I have never seen anything like it before,” he said. “And I have never turned in a report about a flying saucer, either."

A Trans Canada Airlines pilot en route to Victoria about the time the object was spotted, drew the passengers' attention to it.

“Some people will be calling that a flying saucer tomorrow,” he said.

He described it as a “B-50" flying high and trailing vapor. It could also be seen from Patricia Bay airport.
