Flying Saucers Are Here

Up in the sky — look! It's a bird — it's a plane — it's a flying saucer!

And, shades of old Ireland — a bright green one!

Never one to believe in “strange objects flying through the air”, Basil Flynn, of Penticton, declares this week that he has definitely joined the I’ve-seen-a-flying-saucer club.

About 7:30 p.m., March 23, Mr. Flynn and several other persons were driving in their car east along Okanagan Falls' main street when he happened to glance through the window.

“There, flying about 2,000 feet above Okanagan Lake, and moving from west to east, I saw a phosphorescent-green object which looked like two saucers joined together," he said. “It was flying in a position vertical to the surface of the lake.”

Mr. Flynn called it to the attention of the others in the car. Only one other person caught sight of it, however, before it moved on out of sight. Ruth Adams, local public health nurse, confirmed the appearance of the object.

Several other Pentictonites have reported seeing “unusual objects” flying in the sky recently, but none offer any explanation for the phenomena other than to mutter, rather ominously, “mighty strange, mighty strange!”
